In all seriousness, I feel you there. Often, it feels in my head that I'm not allowed to have sexual feelings because people would be upset that I'm subjecting them to emotions they just wouldn't want from me. It took me a year to generally accept that yes, my girlfriend likes doing things with me and is not just doing it to keep me around.

Oh. No, I just try to dress attractively but not 'pretty' because one, 'pretty' clothes and beauty stuff tends to range from uncomfortable to actually painful and injurious, and because two, being 'pretty' in public makes me feel like a target.

I try not to dress like a slob - my clothes are clean, in as good repair as I can afford, and as well-made as I can afford. My person is clean, my hair brushed, and about half the time I will put on a little face powder and lip color. I wear jewelry and I do my best to dress appropriately for location and purpose. I use bright colors and cute accessories. I don't, however, try to be 'pretty', by which I mean sexy or alluring. I avoid that. There's a happy medium I'm going for here, one where I look like I put some effort into my appearance but not actually looking sexually interesting.

Case in point: many women in the SCA in my area go for late period, so they wear bodices and corsets, laced up dresses, flaring skirts, and do fancy hairdos and things. Example:

15th century kirtle

Tudor gown:

My period, 1250, high medieval. Tunic, sideless surcoat, and barbette-and-filet headdress:

And from the later part of this period:

Of course, I have a lot of other reasons for liking the 13-14th century (and you should totally read A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous 14th Century by Barbara Tuchman!), but when I was first looking at periods for the SCA, I saw these lovely, elegant dresses with long draped skirts and sleeves and braids caught up in filets and crespinettes and I said, "There. That is what I want. That is how I desire to be seen."

My mother heartily seconds this.

Also, there are five women in the forum that I would absolutely wreck in the bedroom. If you were not religious, what would happen there would make you embrace God, Buddha, and Xenu. I have scenarios in my head, people.

Only five?

You seem to think people want to go to proms in the first place. :P

I have a very relaxed attitude to writing my own prayers. Sometimes this slips out in public, and I will end a prayer (say, a grace at meals) out loud with, "Thanks. Bye!"

When this inevitably brings stares and strange looks upon me, I explain that I was always told to have a close and personal relationship with Deity, and I took them at their word.

I am a TV junkie. Seriously. On average, I'd say I watch 4-6 hours a day. I watch more TV now that we don't have cable, than I did when we had cable.
Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.
