Sometimes when you wake up queasy after having several beers the night before, you have the flu/food poisoning.  It's not always a hangover.  Especially if you were well within your normal drinking range.

It's a joke. Laugh.

Sometimes you're pregnant.  Happened to my sister.

You know what that song's really about, right?

After a week at the new job:

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

Not that that's such a bad thing, necessarily.  But it's still true.

The problem, is that I've only ever met one person who's company I preferred to solitude.

That's really the whole problem.

Now if I could take someone I've already met, and learn to enjoy their company more than solitude.

Then that would be the solution.

I'm actually very happy with my life.  I see what needs to change, I'm taking those steps to change it, but I'm not miserable or unhappy, just optimistic about where things are going.

I'm still of the opinion that I'm not more than an acquaintance to this forum. This is not due to anything deliberate on anyone's part. I'm just the kind of person who doesn't exactly mesh well. Social chameleon I am not.

The Wikipedia articles on East Germany are surprisingly balanced, all told, even if there are surprising bits of bias poking out of the wood works here and there. I just wish a native English speaker would go over some of them and correct the atrociously bad grammar and composition.

Yup. I got curious last night and went to have a look at what en.wiki had to say about the GDR, then got stuck wiki-surfing for a couple of hours. Some of those articles were rather obviously written (or rather translated, probably) by a German with a less than firm grasp of English.

It might be fun to compare de.wiki and en.wiki and look for differences (more numerous than you'd expect, generally), but I don't think I have the brain juice for that right now.

The sad thing is, I'm better versed in German grammar than I am in English.

I read this book, back in high school, I think called Druben Bei Uns, about this West German high school kid who fell in love with this East German high school girl and went over to visit.  First I'd ever heard of brown coal.  It was an interesting book.  I think I still have it.

Disenchanted spinner of syllables

I am going to have a good day, and take pride in this job. I won't indulge in pointless negativity or sarcasm. I -do- love Adobe, and I am happy to be the friendly public face of a giant, faceless corporation. I can change people's perceptions of us, and I WANT to impact the world in a positive fashion.

I am going to manipulate myself into being happy today. Because otherwise I'm just going to be miserable, like most days. I am excited to be good at what I do, I am excited to help people deepen their understanding of our software. I love my job. I love my job, and I really don't give a flying rat's ass about the moral implications. I used to love this job, and the only thing that's changed is that I've allowed myself to become cynical and sarcastic.
