It's an awesome picture, and I'm sorely tempted to at least temporarily replace my beloved Sombrero Galaxy desktop background with it.

Update: It's my desktop background now. The lightning makes it a bit busy for my taste, but still...

Here's a picture I found on Kotaku that I just... Well it's probably only temporary but I had a Japanese koi on my lappy forever so I felt it was a change.

Just to keep up the running tally, I didn't foresee that one, TGU. ;-)

I'll go and switch to this APOD image in a few minutes, because it's gorgeous and striking, and because the Iceland volcano picture is a bit busy for my tastes in the long run.

I swear there was another thread like this that was more recent, but I can't seem to find it.

Anyway, the background I had for quite a long time was this:

Now it is this.

For a good long, while, this has been used as my desktop background (centered, not stretched to fit or anything):

It was made by an acquaintance of mine and I've got a couple friends on it...plus, it just amuses me. Of any background I've ever had, this one has generated the most discussion by people who happen to be glancing at my computer screen.
