Don't sell yourself short, Bun.  If you were a less strong-willed person, you would find a way, or make a way, to drink despite your injured arm.  But you haven't.  You've placed yourself in control of that situation, and you've remained in control.  Just because being injured has helped you maintain that control doesn't strip you of the achievement.

Hubby got a new job! He starts in two weeks!

And he made me a spiffy new bracelet.

Hooray for Lore-hubby! Go out there and be awesome. Also, kick busybody butt with your awesome organizer powers!

I had a relatively light call last night. And I only have one more (on Friday). Woo hoo!

Also: I note that neither Darth nor Cythy has posted in four days. I hope that means something good.  :#

Well, I am friends with them on Facebook, so I know what's been going on.  I just don't want to make announcements for them here without asking.

Alpha is definitely our biggest happy thought right now, but high up there is the fact that people were looking forward to hearing the news.  Sorry to keep you all waiting!

I don't think anyone will hold it against you that internetting hasn't been your top priority the last few days. :D

Oh, right!  B5 movies!  I forgot those existed.  We stopped watching after season 4... How are they?

I was having a good old-fashioned freakout last night, but a certain endlessly sweet and awesome guy talked me down out of it and got me calm enough that I was able to sleep. <3

Lorelei, congrats to your hubby on his new job! I hope they treat him well. Your bracelet is gorgeous!

I read TGU's post as:
I was having a good old-fashioned fuckout last night...
and I immediately thought of camping nookie.

For the love of Judy Jetson, this week has felt like six months. When I wasn't working, I was visiting one of my closest friends in the hospital.

A friend in the hospital is not a Happy Thought. The happy part is that she's been released and is on the mend. She's someone who seldom complains about anything and generally "toughs out" difficult situations. Sometimes this trait can be terrific. In this case, though, it was dangerous. She'd been feeling unwell for a while and figured that whatever was ailing her would run its course in a few weeks. She did not let on just how poorly she was feeling until Monday night when it became unbearable.

I felt awful for her. I know she was frightened and anxious in that bleak hospital room. On a selfish note, it was scary and heartbreaking to see her so frail. We (her closest friends) sat with her and brought her little gifts we hoped might be useful. See, that's sucks too -- that impotent feeling of watching someone you care about suffer and not being able to do a damned thing about it.

But she's going to be fine. She's going to be just fine. *huge sigh of relief*

Regarding work, I accomplished quite a lot this week.

I had a long phone conversation with one of my favorite human beings. And she may be able to visit this spring!

This evening I shared a hearty meal with my beloved. Things have been so freaking hectic; this was the first time in quite a while we could really focus on one another.

Oh, and I wore my favorite Batman tee today.
"Larry, we've been welcomed by you, thank you so much, now would you please just drink your fucking milk and shut the fuck up."

My happy thought is that, although for a few weeks or months I have been fearing Hippie and EBH had gone their separate ways (because they used to post sexy thoughts at and about each other all the time and suddenly stopped), I was wrong.

That's a very happy thought for me.

I got so much done today, because TIP was super supportive and helpful.

All my stuff (except a couch and a chair) is out of Santa Cruz!  We took a bunch of stuff to my parent's garage last night, and a whole lot more stuff to the dump today.  I got home and had a message from a good friend inviting me to come over for a movie night.  He made me food, and we had a really good talk.

Now I can snuggle in bed with a kitten (whenever she settles down), and all will be well.

Mumford and Sons and black, black coffee.

My stomach will hate me for it, but it was already being an asshole and cramping for no reason anyway, so whatever.

I finished my last in-hospital work day yesterday. I have left: four weeks of endocrine clinics, an eight-hour test, and four weeks of research on how people use a access-your-medical-records website for patients. Forty days of work, all of it eight-to-five days. No more weeks of fourteen-to-sixteen hour days, six days a week average with a block a month of twelve days in a row without a break.

I can work something approaching the same hours as everyone else. This is my happy thought.

Please spoiler descriptions of childbirth events and infants' bodily functions. Or put them in TMI. Please.

If it helps, it never occurred to me to do anything else, presuming my whining about being overdue and such doesn't count. If it does, I do sincerely apologise; please let me know and I promise I'll be more careful about not setting off people's squick-levels!

I don't think you really did, Cythy, I've just noticed a lot of people in my various feeds/sites/whatevers that seem to forget that courtesy once they have a kid. Thought I'd try to head it off at the pass. :)

I have a pet theory that we've evolved to lose most of our squick factor when it comes to our babies' various bodily messes. Before baby, poop and birth are squicky. After, not nearly so squicky. This would make it easier for a parent to care for the baby and its messes, so more babies survive. In the modern age this also means the parent's "this is totally okay to post on Facebook" threshold has been lowered in regards to baby diarrhea, so... yeaahh...

Heh.  I realized that at my niece's first birthday.  My oldest brother's friends all had babies around the same ages, so we're sitting in the living room while the kids are in the playroom.  We started talking about potty-training, and realized we were getting kind of graphic when the one person who wasn't helping to raise a kid excused himself and left.

Oops.  I try to censor myself around poor TIP, who has never had potty-training woes to laugh about.  Well, not from the grown-up side.
