Merry Christmas! (Or happy December 25th)
« on: December 25, 2011, 11:14:33 AM »
For those that celebrate Christmas: Merry Christmas! For those that don't: Merry Christmas in a I-just-want-to-wish-you-a-good-day-and-a-happy-life way, not a I-want-to-force-a-set-of-beliefs-on-you kind of way. So happy, um...December 25th!

Post here your holiday happenings, your swag or whatever other holiday-oriented stuff (whether the holiday is Christmas or not) you want to share with the rest of us.

A bit of caroling and cheer from my lovely lady and myself:
Deck the Halls

‎"December 25th, 1642, Julian Calendar: Sir Issac Newton is born. Jesus, however, was actually born in the Summer; his birthday was moved to coincide with a traditional Pagan holiday that celebrates the Winter Solstice with lit fires and slaughtered goats, which, frankly, sounds like more fun than twelve hours of church with my mother, followed by fruit cake." - Sheldon Cooper

Merry Christmas all!  It doesn't feel much like Christmas yet, because we're "doing" Christmas tomorrow.  But I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday, and a happy new year!

And a joyous ChristmaHaunaKwanzica-Solstivus to all of you!

My dad totally got me Jeremy Pascall's GOD: The Ultimate Autobiography.  And my brother not only got me a Kershaw folding knife, he also made a nice display box for it!

Now I have to decide which Philip Plait book I want to read first: Bad Astronomy or Death From the Skies!  Decisions, decisions... :D

*Sigh* The only thing that's a bummer is we didn't have the Awakening Saturday. :(  And I was lookin' forward to being a Coyote shaman too.

My youngest niece decided to start counting her farts until Christmas, starting about 11 days before. She got to 555. When I arrived at the Christmas Eve gathering, she was at 498, and very proudly told everyone when she got to 500. She must've farted a lot more later that night, though.

Adam, how do we have the same niece?  I got mine a book of farts from around the world.  I think it was her favorite gift.  She'll be 26 in a couple of months.

The magic of Christmas, Maj. The magic of Christmas.

Happy Boxing Day everyone! Or Feast of Saint Stephen. Or second day of Christmas ("two turtledoves", you know). Or fourth day past Yule, or seventh night of Hannukah, or...

Clearly, we have the same niece via some kind of convoluted time travel, as mine is still in single digits and yours is almost my age. I'm going to blame The Doctor. It'll probably turn out that your grandmother's sister's husband's wife's mother's daughter was my nephew's father's brother-in-law.
