1) The accusations are based on hearsay and comments that two police officers made, which doesn't exactly constitute a force wide plan.

I didn't say it was a force wide plan. It doesn't need to be a force wide plan, or even a plan from above, to work.

2) A comment I read on the internet made a very good point: vagrancy and camping is illegal in most parks in New York. When the cops are called out to move on a hobo, what are they supposed to tell him? "Sorry, only unemployed people with degrees in post-war German cinema are allowed to camp in New York City"?

This is why it is terribly important, from a legal perspective, that Zucotti is privately owned. That park exists under an agreement with the city; it is not city land. They can't move in there without permission from the owner, which presumably they got; the fact that board members supported the protests was the only reason this didn't happen weeks ago.

I would add that this is exactly what happened with the Summer of Love. The thuggish rebels-without-a-cause (or a fucking clue) come in, sexually abusing people and acting like dicks, without any means of financially supporting themselves, and eventually the well-educated middle class liberal women get fed up and leave.

I'd actually agree with that, except that I haven't seen any evidence that the latter have left. I also point out that said women are the main reason the camp worked properly, as they oversaw those who were willing to put in the effort to maintain, among other things, safety and sanitation. If they did lose said women it would be time to ship out. But I have no more faith in either 'official' reports or hearsay that the park was collapsing into anarchy than in the case of the Bonus Expeditionary Force (aka Occupy D.C. 1932), about which the same was said despite massive evidence to the contrary.
