[A Softer World] Favorites?
« on: July 26, 2007, 10:25:59 PM »
I was reminded of the comic today... possibly because I subscribe to the lj rss thinger.  But I was going through some old favorites and wanted to see if any other readers here wanted to post some that they liked.

This one (which is also a link! shiny!) is one of the more well-known, as their first book of published strips is titled from it.  I hadn't really appreciated it until I re-read it tonight, so I felt it was worth a share.

So, anyone else read this comic?  Have any favorite strips?

Personally, I like all the morbid ones, and the one about chess.  Baby Doom not so much though.

This has always been my favorite one:
"Out of ugly, I think the most important thing to do in life is make something beautiful." - Johhy Weir

"Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars." - Kahlil Gibran

And my longtime preferred number one fave:
Don't confuse a position that is both a logically and morally defensible one with dogma.

I found a total copycat site... I was hoping they'd admit to pirating the format, but they don't.

Some of the things might be decent, I guess.  I haven't really gone through.

Just got caught up, and found a second favorite:

He admits to being inspired by ASW, but even so, his format comes across as straight plagiarism.

I like this one. Hehe.
"[...] in order to raise your hopes and then dash them, as a seagull dashes a clam against the rocks in order to claim the juicy morsel within.  We thrive on heartbreak and despair, you see.  Your tears fill the aching place in our souls where joy used to dwell." - TGU
