Perhaps it should be "dead characters you wish hadn't been killed in the first place, instead killing off the major ones that they always bring back." Because there are some nice, obscure characters that never get brought back.

But yeah, I know what you mean...I still remember the "Death of Cyclops" thing at the end of the bullshit storyline "The Twelve" in the X-books. I was seeing advertisements for "The Search for Cyclops" BEFORE the issue he'd "died" in had even hit my local stands.

Maybe we need a "characters you wish had STAYED dead" thread?

You know what pisses me off? That this was announced. It would've been a lot cooler if I'd had the chance to read it and go "woah, wait...what?". Even knowing that he's coming back, there could've been more coolness if it hadn't been announced.

They had a scan on the scans_daily community on Livejournal of Frank learning that that Cap was dead - as the footage from the trial was being shown live on the Big Screen in Times Square. Frank really had a look of horror and sorrow on his face, which was good, because since Ennis' run on The Punisher[1], the artists on the Punisher books have kind of gotten into the habit of drawing him as a grim, emotionless automaton.

(Though, I must say, Tim Bradstreet's The Punisher covers are, by far, some of the best covers in comics, IMHO.)

[1]For which, frankly, I've kind of decided not to read anything Ennis is writing.

Yeah, right. So, what'll it be? There's no body, so he's faked his death in order to throw the villains off guard? Or perhaps the Lazarus Pits? Or, Batman is dead but a parallel universe Batman will take over after the next Crisis?

Haven't really been following this whole thing: I'm reading The Boys, Buffy S8 and Northlanders atm. I'm just amazed Captain America's still dead. Hopefully the inevitable return of Batman won't be as bloody awful as it was with Superman.
