Slack.

So I was just wondering what people were thinking of the current trend of mocking the major religious figures in Ghastly's Ghastly comic.  I thought today's with Bishie Buddha was a bit far, but that's what he's going for so I guess it doesn't bother me too much.  To me I don't really mind mocking Christians since there are people like Jack Chick out there and the Phelps Clan who malign the religion.  Mocking Christianity I see as more of a barb at them.

I don't know that there's a parallel for Buddhism.  I don't know of evangelical Buddhists.  Now this doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but just that I don't know of them.

What I think would be really funny, however, would be introducing Muhammad into the comic, but putting him behind a black box since you can't draw him.  You could then have the other characters describing either him or what's happening to him, but not show it.  Then again that might get Ghastly blow up so you never know.

So what do you think of the comic in general?  I feel it generally pushes the boundaries of good taste, but I mostly always have a chuckle for it.

Anyways, here's the link:  Ghastly's Comic

As a side note, anyone know where Ghastly went after the forum-explosion?  I know he was mostly only around for Clay's subfora, but he seemed like a decent enough guy.

I dunno. I see him on Fark, ocassionally, but other than that, not really.

Personally I think he does a good job lampooning relgious figures. It's always fun to see someone elses take on absurd situations.

I unreservedly love GGC. Ghastly does a great job of lampooning all kinds of stereotypes, be they kinky, religious, or something else entirely, and he has an awesome character lineup. "Pushing the boundaries of good taste" is not something I associate with GGC, though. It's more like he oversteps that boundary with some regularity. :-)

No... I just think he's forgotten where the boundary is, he's having so much fun on the other side.

I love GGC. Not necessarily 'cause it doesn't freak me out. Sometimes I have to look at it and go, 'OMG MY EYES!' But, usually, it's just funny. As far as making fun of 'Bishi Buddha', I mean, come on! You have to make fun of everyone! If you don't, you're a  poopiehead.

Much sadness.

I hope he'll get  better soon, and that he'll one day resume GGC.
