I really hope someone else reads this comic, because I want someone to gush with.

I love Coyote so much, his lines make me laugh and laugh. Also, "Sky Watcher and the Angel" made me tear up from d'awww.

I love love love it, but I forgot to read it for a month, and now I'm a million years behind and havn't had the time to catch up to the current story arc.

But yes. OMG so good.

I've been madly in love with that comic for probably a year now.  The story and the world are so compelling, and the art just keeps getting more and more amazing.

Also, Coyote is less of a dick than I thought a month ago.
A friend disappointed me a short while ago. She e-mailed a message with the subject line 'Trap Neuter Return' and the message had nothing to do with the Duggar family. *sad* -Hippie

I think either S*S or Mach showed it to me a while back.  It's cool.  I got all caught up at one point and then since there was nothing new, didn't read it anymore, and now I have a lot to catch up on again.

Such is webcomics.

I love it. The art is simply breathtaking, the ideas he builds his world from are amazing, and the story draws you in like no other web comic I know. It's one of the few comics I check with regularity.

I don't even mind not reading it for a month or so, because then when I go back there's PLENTY, and that's nice. :)

Heart heart Coyote. His story about putting the stars in the sky is awesome. "Hahaha, I admit it, it is my fault they are so messy!"

I'm pretty sure I first found it via Zch, or someone on here, a while back. Absolutely love it, right from the start. The initial logic, in the first storyline, of "I've met a sentient shadow that can't get home. There's only one logical thing to do in this scenario: build a robot! Nevermind the fact that I've never done it before, it must be done!"

The strip's interpretation of Coyote's personality, so far, is pretty damn spot-on with the Coyote stories I was raised with as a kid. And the visual interpretation is just gorgeous.

I don't find I frequently fall behind on Gunnerkrigg, which is kind of sad, because waiting for each installment can get downright painful, especially when the strip isn't uploaded right at the start of the day.

I do love how it creates a world with different rules that's easy to be drawn into, even without knowing the rules beforehand. That's the trademark of the best fiction, to me, when you just take what comes and down spend time wondering about this or that detail that's different from the real world. Well, unless the writer WANTS you to wonder about this or that.

Which brings me to the other thing I love - the fact that the mysteries of this world seem pretty damn well planned out. It's weird getting to a point where you go, "Wait a minute...this was foreshadowed waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back, almost at the beginning!"

It's a very detailed, intricate world with a lot of things going on that may or may not be related to each other. Better still, it can tell an intriguing story that is - in my opinion - suitable for most, if not all, ages and meanders brilliantly between quirky fun and dark mystery/drama. I've got my little sister hooked on it, too; I read the first eleven chapters to her during a visit home. She tries to keep up, but whenever she falls behind and one of us visits the other, we read it together until she's caught up.

Just caught back up with this after about 6 months without it. The latest storyline is quite shocking in terms of the lead character.  Still stunning and beautiful, but also rather sad.

Yup, we're learning things about her that I don't like. But while I loved the previous arc, I still have to warm up to this one - it feels a bit too drama-filled for me right now.

I love the bendy-whirly lines for the environment in the last couple comics. Clever way to show what Annie's going through.

I've liked Gunnerkrigg for quite some time, I think about when I first started reading was just about...  Chapter 22 I believe.   And hey, you think I'm not gonna approve of something with Coyote in it?  And coming from my fairly extensive collection of Coyote stories (six books and counting) I can tell that Tom Siddell has done his research to make the character fall in line with most depictions of him.  Yes, Coyote is a dick, but then again the Court's shown itself to be riddled with so much problems that a batch of Trickery or two seems harmless in comparison.
(click to show/hide)
I am QUITE impressed the tribalesque abstract-celestial look that he's been given as well, it allows Tom to do the things that Coyote always seems capable of.

The plot right now is also interesting, just when you think things are gonna get sewn up a bit, they're going bonkers again.  It's also showing a little more depth to Annie, where at times she seemed almost as robotic as Jones, she's coming off as with more emotion lately (even if a lot of is HAS been sad).

I have to admit that this is a VERY interesting chapter, and the look on Reynardine's face as he told her at the end, the regret there, it shows that he's not really saying that out of spite.  Ouch.

Annie -is- an interesting character, but her stoicism strikes me as more and more real as things go on - it seems to me like her stoicism is her method of coping, rather than any sort of conscious choice, or effort at killing her emotions.
Jones seems robotic - but the thing is she isn't afraid to express herself, and she does, seemingly regularly to people.  Its just that very often she chooses to -not- express herself, and usually has strong cerebral motives for it.  Even as she does, its subdued and very much 'her own brand' of self-expression, a gesture, a smirk, a choice of words.

Annie's cold distance seems to be result of being afraid of expressing emotion.  She almost never expresses herself, emotionally.  Even more telling is that on the rare occasions that she does, it comes in a deluge of tears, laughter and suppressed feelings that have been dying to get let out.
She's made friends who act as her foil- mellow her out a bit, so to speak, such as Kat and...well, Kat.  You could go back and notice that she's visibly more relaxed and content when Kat's around - that or when no one is around at all.

With all this in mind - I have to say the recent game of "let's hurt each others feelings" stopped being unexpected the moment Rey let slip that snark about her father.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, mach- I wasn't actually faulting the characters for acting the way they do.  I think the author's writing on the characters has developed well, and you certainly got a good sense of what and who Annie was from the beginning, realizing more and more as you got her story why she acted the way she did from the beginning.   It's just good to see her begin to come out of that shell for good or ill, as you can only go through the events she has and remain stoic for too long before it cracks.  And boy is it ever.

Though as far as Jones goes... Heh, I'm pretty sure she IS a robot, hehe.

...[snip]I have to admit that this is a VERY interesting chapter, and the look on Reynardine's face as he told her at the end, the regret there, it shows that he's not really saying that out of spite.  Ouch.

Makes you wonder, would you want a friend who cannot lie to you? I suspect that, although there was anger on Reynard's part early on this exchange, it sharp turned to  sympathy when he realised where this was heading. He's not quite the guy he seems to be sometimes.

That said, definitely a very high quality of writing and artwork, that deserves high praise a lot of the time. Perhaps this change we're seeing now is a realisation that after so many chapter, the comic, and it's characters (being teenagers), need to go through some changes. We've had the happy changes, and now the more stressful.

I'm glad that Annie's cheekbones got more normal after the first 100 strips or so, her football head was freaking me out.

That said, I'm definitely hooked, thanks for the recommendation!

Edit:
A Week for Kat is my favorite so far.

Edit Again:
Awwww, and she's wearing his shirt in the next chapter!
