Meh, I dont get all the refrences, and the dialouge can be a bit stilted(is that the right word?)  but QC is still better than the majority of webcomics out there, and believe me, I've read a LOT of webcomics.

Foul Mouthed, Lab Coat Wearing Psycho

it's a good comic, I think. The obscure band references can leave you scratching your head, but otherwise, it's a solid comic, though a bit emo.

Not here anymore.

I love Questionable Content.  It's certainly been far better than Megatokyo lately, which I don't even bother checking except on a bi-weekly basis anymore.
I think the obscure band references are great, it shows the author's love for the stuff, and I'm glad he's not giving in to the "general public" and leaving them out just to make more sense.

All in all, I'd rate QC higher than both S*P and Megatokyo.

Not your monkey.

Indie rock kid's insight on his music references: over half of them are completely befuddling, since he makes statements and comparisons that are ludicrous to anyone who has heard the music.

I take issue with his lousy plot and non-characterization, and his horrible horrible commentary.

I liked the robot, though.  It was funny when they were baking the robot in cake batter rather than trying to emote.

I'm a fan of QC...but honestly? I'm not sure why. It's not necessarily the subject matter I'd be into, and I don't get a lot of the references....but I still dig it.

I'm with 'Tero on this one. It seems like he's trying to establish "scene cred" rather than actually make reasonable claims about different bands. Also, I don't particularly care for the protagonists as they seem to be characterized rather shallowly, not to mention the fact that the comic never really goes anywhere. Lack of direction can be great as long as you are interesting and funny enough to keep my attention, but Questionable Content is just not up to par.

On the other hand, it is still a lot better than some of the shit out there, so I wouldn't calle it the most annoying, but it's still pretty damn annoying.

I think the characterization is a little deeper than it gets credit for, personally.  It's slow, but I think it's developing over time, and you start to differentiate between the characters more and more as their individual tastes/character starts to show.

Maybe I'm just easily amused Tongue

On the first day, a hipster started a webcomic about a hipster and his robot. And it was good.
On the second day, a hipster added a southern girl who never used contractions and got all the "obscure" band references. And it was good.
On the third day, a hipster started making jokes about the southern girl being fat. And it was not as good, but could be looked past.
On the fourth day, a hipster tried to create backstory for the southern girl. And lo, she drove up a tree, and the readers were befuddled.
On the fifth day, a hipster made jokes about "obscure" bands but they no longer made any sense. And music geeks everywhere grew confused.
On the sixth day, a hipster tried to create drama by turning the sexual tension into a real plot rather than an underlying current. And it was less than good.
On the seventh day, a hipster added a girl with OCD, gave her a little iPod robot, sent the southern girl home to her father's grave, and hooked up the goth chick and the hipster. And agc stopped reading.

Not your monkey.

Dora, Marten, and Faye all have the EXACT SAME SENSE OF HUMOR and make interchangeable witty remarks.

Actually, all the characters do, except for the stupid ones (who get another set of remarks) and the redneck sorta guy who was so funny that they decided to not use him anymore.

It makes me chuckle, so I read.  I have more in common with some of the characters than someone completely out of the music-loop should.

It may be the same humor all the way through, but it is not a bad humor, and hell, society has been living off of crap like slapstick for so long its oozing out of the bloated pores of the western world.  Perhaps there isn't too much variety within the comic itself, but it is such a unique humor that I couldn't care less.

Sometimes I wake up with my nose in the grass.

I'd never heard of this comic before this thread. Unlike YOU losers, I get the band references...in fact they've referenced some of my favorite bands. SO THERE! I LIKE THIS COMIC AND I AM PROUD OF IT!

So what, do you want a fucking cookie?

I hope you're being sarcastic about how unlike us, you get the band references, because ... well, yeah, they're not exactly obscure references these days, what with the hipster/indie music scene and all. And at this point, the references are getting more random and nonsensical than anything else.

I long for the day when knowing an obscure and, generally, overrated band is not the status symbol it currently serves as.

And, on top of that, Stephen Malkmus's newest record does NOT sound ANYTHING like Sonic Nurse.
