I just thought I'd start a general Sluggy thread.

I'm not sure what to think of it anymore.  I mean I kind of care about all the characters so it's still a daily read for me... but I think I only ever really laugh with any consistency at the Saturday comic.  The story arcs are just getting so large and mystic and... *shrug*.

Pete's a good story teller, though.  It's insane how he'll foreshadow something years in advance or just leave little bits that could be used as foreshadowing.  I'm still not sure if it's all intentional or if he just thinks "right, I'll put something cryptic here, add it to my list of Cryptically Made Comics and then if I think it would work into a story I'll do it."  I mean if it's not that then he must have years of comics left in his brain... if the comic stays around that long.

So what are your thoughts and such?  Favorite comics?  Things Pete does well?  Things he doesn't?  Anyone else really missing Aylee?

My favourite arc of all was Fire And Rain. I have that in hardback. I have no idea why, maybe it was just the emotional involvement of the various and sundry characters. It kicked ass though. As it stands I'm glad this Oceans Unmoving thing is over, I was missing Torg and the others.

Am I the only person who thinks we're about due for another Oasis attack? I'm not necessarily saying that's what I want to see, I'm just saying it seems like about that time...

Well if you judge the shadows as foreshadowing we just might be...  Of course that's a bit too obvious to really foreshadow what's coming.

Fire and Rain is my favorite story arc, too.  My LEAST favorite was the whole 'Punyverse' thing.  I sctually skipped a big chunk of it when I was reading the archives.  I wish Pete'd do another of the evil kittens arcs, and we are way WAY overdue for an Oaisis attack (remember my old avi back on XF?  ;)  )

I like the art in the current strips.  Reminds me of these creepy old shorts they used to show on Nick.  But the story lines are getting WAY to complicated.  I barely even remembered all of Bunbun's politics that you needed to know to get the Ocean's Unmoving ending.  I'm glad he's back, though.  I missed that crazy little rabbit.

I stopped reading Sluggy for the same reason that I'm about to stop reading GPF. The story has gotten too big, to out of control, with so much to remeber and everything going wild. Other comics have been around as long as Sluggy and are still much less epic in scale. Schlock Mercenary and Kevin and Kell come to mind most immeditly.

GPF was kind of like Sluggy's younger cousin in terms of interesting readership...held my interest for a while but after that, just...blah.

The Oceans Unmoving line was so boring that I stopped reading altogether.  =\

Oh man, today's comic has Oasis in it! I mean granted, it's shadow Oasis, but I still say that I totally called that one.

Funny, that.  Oceans Unmoving brought me back to Sluggy.

I like Sluggy, a lot...but there are times that I miss some of the funny, less angstful strips.  But that's just me

I loved the punyverse, of course that could be just because I've watched a lot of anime and so enjoyed the jokes poking fun at anime.  I agree on the Evil Kitten story though, we need some more of those.

I dont really remember much of the story, I think I just wanted to get on with whatever was happening in the main story line, and didnt take kindly to the big ol break in the middle.

Also... when did Kiki start dropping her Rs to Ws?  I swear I didn't notice it before... and it's really rather annoying (and somewhat cheap).

Re:  Today's comic.

Puppet Porn stuff... good to see there are still glimmers of the original Torg in there.

I miss Torgo, though.

Looks like Oasis is making a comeback after all. Thank you thank you, Pete. :-D

Good stuff.
