So, to start with...

Otherkins.

Hilarious... or fucking hilarious.

Discuss.

I used to be a dragon. And that's okay, because dragons are real as IDEAS... or in PARALLEL WORLDS.

Why is no one ever, like, a chihuahua or something?
"How dare you pull my rose, Madam! How dare you break my tree!
How dare you come to Carterhaugh, without the leave of me?"
"Well may I pull the rose," she said, "Well may I break the tree,
For Carterhaugh is my father's; I'll ask no leave of thee!"

No, no, Spooks.  It has to be spelled "vampyre" or you're not hardcore.

If you think Otherkins are funny, look up Otakukins/Otakins.

I've always identified pretty strongly as a dog (so, close with chihuahua), but whether I actually have dog on my soul, whether I have a soul at all, whether it's memories from past lives as a dog, whether I just feel the connection because my religious beliefs are heavily shamanistic and becoming more like a totem animal is how I was taught, or whether I'm just mad as a hatter is subject to some debate. I have known plenty of people who think they're part demon or dragon or wolf or angel or elf or some crap like that, and with the exception of one single person the rest have been nuttos and posers. I've known a few people who identify very strongly with an animal archetype, and they're much less crazy, if at all. Basically they've got an animal that they feel their personality has a lot in common with, and that's how they look at the world. These people, and I'm most likely included among them, tend to have much less fantastical animals. Still a couple of wolves, but far fewer of them, and it's not some idealized conception of the wolf that they take after, but a pack-focused predator with a keen eye for finding their place in a social situation. I've also known people with mouse, turtle, snake, goat, cat, and raven archetypes. It's not much different from people who put a lot of significance on the Chinese zodiac.

Near as I can tell, there's a big difference between that and believing you're Lord Raven Darkclaw, reincarnated soul of the 8th elven king of Lamodell.

Do you also write bad melodramatic poetry?

And how do you feel about mystyrd?

Edit to Add:  Look!  A live specimen!

I love this bit bestest:

And you know what, furthermore, everyone says that otherkin and otakukin are vain, arrogant, escapist, etc.

Am I vain? Maybe, but it has absolutely nothing to do with my beliefs, and escapsim has nothing to do with it.

I am plagued by nightmares of sins this lifetime never saw, and by dreams of friends I'll never see again. Its no picnic being like this, okay? So there goes 'escapism'.

This is ridiculous escapism bullshit. >_<

Identifying with a spiritual concept is great and peaceful and altogether great.  Imagination and such is great.  I like to imagine I'm a fiery dragoness flying around and burning shit and collecting mad loot.  But when you actually start to believe in this crap... how can we not laugh?

I like D&D too, but I'm not a elven-princess-vampyre(half) werecat.

I meditated once and saw an orphan kid living on the streets of what looked like Victorian London with a yellow dog as his buddy, but it doesn't particularly bother me, and I don't know if I was the kid or the dog or either.

I may do a separate thread elsewhere to lay details out and get others opinions.

Was my reaction.

I mean, when the one night stand turned up, I thought "ah-ha, she's pregnant!"

Then it turned out it'd been 3 years.

Then..... KID!

I really hope he's not going to try to marry her.  Help support the kid, sure.  But please don't decide to marry your one night stand because she had your kid three years ago.
