Spiderman 9/11 issue.

Someone posted this over on the LJ community, Scans_Daily.  I had seen some textless panels before, but never the whole issue.  I think, while a bit heavyhanded, this is a truly touching tribute to the victims of the attacks.

Basicly, Marvel has characters in real-world settings.  Many of it's most popular titles are set in New York City.  They refrence current events in thier comics constantly, so how could they NOT say something about 9/11?  While they could have copped out with the whole 'different universe' excuse, I'm kind of glad they didnt wimp out, and actually tried.

Here's what I said in the comments on teh entry:

As I said before, I think this would have been just as good, maybe better, without the text. Thankfully, they got a GOOD artist on it.

I love how they added all those little true stories in the background. Like the guys who helped the lady in the wheelchair, or the guy getting pulled into the shop just before the impact cloud, or whatever it's called.

Everytime I see this, especialy the fourth and eigth scans, I'm reminded of something my grandfather said when I was younger.

"We are a family of nurses, firmen, military, and cops. It seems the
public service genes run in our blood. Weather it's something wrong
in our brains, or something right, we're the ones who, when everyone
else is running away, dont think, but run straight in."

Read the comments below the scans, they're usualy pretty intelligent over there.

Dead.

This is one of the handful of actual comic book issues that I own. I really like it, it's not perfect, but it's touching.
