Adorkable.
I figured we needed a thread for the photos which some of us take as art. Because the post your pictures thread is rockin', but I tend to think of it more as a thread for pictures on days I'm feeling pretty or of weird things that happen or family photos.
So I'll stop rambling like a moron and uh, post some of my art shots, k?
I have more, but these are the ones I could get to, and I don't want to spend three hours looking at shots trying to pick the right ones right now.

Banana hammock.
Those are some nice shots. I especially like the one with the other photographer in it. Also the last two. Skies are always asking to be captured, and lampposts are very romantic somehow. I have never seen one like that in person, myself.
I think I have a few good ones somewhere, but I really need to import my old HD onto this computer... meanwhile, I shall encourage others to post art-shots. I adore artistic photography.

Let's see if I can find any of mine... Here we go. Taken at Magdalen College in Oxford plus one of my favorites from a family trip to Hawaii.

I'm a fan of the one off shot. I rarely edit my photos. I always feel like I'm cheating if I start messing around with the photo afterwards.

Would you mind if I played around a bit with the images and see what I can come up with?

Go ahead.
If other people want to do stuff with my pics, I'm more than happy to let them.

My camera always seemed to make the pictures a bit flatter than real life, so i would boost color and contrast.

I didn't do too much. I noted that the colours weren't too bright when I brought them into Photoshop. So I saturated them a bit, just to brighten them up. Much like Scix mentioned he's done.
On the first one I used a paint dobs filter to accent the shadows on the little statue. Might be a bit less subtle than I'd have liked, but it did what I set out to do.
Actually, the close-up of all the little pink flowers just needed a tiny touch of colour and brightness adjustment, and came out beautifully without any direct manual changes to the saturation. Then I simply changed the hue, and got the other colours. They look really neat in indigo, I think.
The last one was a combination of saturation, brightness, and waterpaper filter. Along with a mild gaussian blur. I like it.
