Weave the world, dance the puppets, call the muse

As probably most of you have realized by now, I excel at writing.  I love to write, love to see my work in writing, love to have people read my writing, love to read my writing to other people, and love to hear what people have to say about my writing.  I make no bones about the fact that I'm good at it - modesty will not serve me here, but showing my writing will.

However, my kind of writing is for stories (I prefer fictional stories, especially speculative fictions, most especially science-fiction and fantasy).  Sometimes I will write what I feel, my reactions to certain things.

I do not do poetry.

When it comes to other mediums of artistic expression, I am likewise limited.

My drawings are chicken-scratch.  Elephants make better paintings than I do.  I can sing along with the radio, but my voice and my talent is not what I consider exceptional.  I can play music, if the instrument is a percussion (xylophone, drum, cymbal, you get the idea).  Can't write music (well, I can, but it's hardly something you'd hear on Broadway).  I don't sculpt.  Or carve.  Or do any kind of handcrafts at all (my hands are good for giving massages and writing).

So... yeah.  I'm a writer.

What are you?

Not here anymore.

Artist and writer.  I don't often write these days, simply due to lack of time.  Artist in that I like painting miniatures, and I'd like to design costumes someday.. so I'm learning how to draw people and bodies and such.  For that, it's color pencils right now.  I'd like to switch to other mediums eventually though.

Level Three Law Student

Writing. Specifically, writing high fantasy.

Everything I do in my life finds itself in my novel(s). I seek out very powerful, emotional experiences in oder to to truly know how to express it in words. Sometimes, it's not the best addiction, but it works.

It also leads me to crave a never ending supply of (good) music that can put that emotion into word and lyric. I also happen to have a great, though somewhat out of practice voice. Practice for chior, at least. It's perfect for the music I listen to.

Other than that, though, my other "medium" is dance. Be that through sword fighting, ballet, or some other full-body movement. I crave that as much as I do singing. And I'm equally as good. But my best skill really is my writing.

And I've burned out at least 4 friends with it.

But that's what I get for a 250,000 manuscript.

A lonely chord, without a song.

I'm an artist. Specifically, I prefer sculpting, but I'll work with just about anything I can get my hands on. Clay and all aspects of ceramics are by far my favorite, but I also enjoy doing all sorts of found object randominity. I also sincerely enjoy black and white 35mm photography, but haven't gotten a chance to do much of it recently.

I'll generally call myself a sculptor, because I don't specifically throw pots as much as I handbuild.

I will work in basically anything I have available; drawing, painting, woodwork, graphic, sewing...really, anything I can think of.

I like to write...I like photography...but the only thing I have any real talent at is music so I guess my medium would be that, although my large would be my ass and my small would be my brain...but medium...yes...I'll go with music.

I make shiny things, you need them.

My current preference for art is the knitting of steel wire into simple patterns. But I'm a mere hobbyist and couldn't make money at creativity to save your life let alone mine.

Not your monkey.

DNA is my medium - that mortal coil, that fundamental form - and where others might toy with "science" and "genetics" I have elevated life-shaping to an art form!  I, I alone, am the Michelangelo of the amino acid, the Pound of the genomic sequence, the Beethoven of the very stuff of life!

Now my magnum opus nears completion (and one could hear the italics in his voice) and the armies of the world will be as so many paper dolls before my masterwork!  The human race will bow to me as one, and I shall rule over the planet for eternity!

And not you nor that mangy mutt can do a thing to stop me!

At one point I would have said my writing. I had 200 pages of a novel written, but then it died. It's one of those things where you look back and look at the work of two years and realize you don't like it anymore. I'm working on getting it back because even though I'd take an hour to write a single page it just felt...right. I can't say it any better then that.

I do enjoy knitting and crocheting, though those are more of a hobby and something to do with my hands during class.

I like doing those artsy things that aren't actually difficult but look like they are. For example, paint by number or etchings where they've already given you the line to follow. ie:
(click to show/hide)

I'm learning how to sew and I'm not sure if I enjoy it or hate it just yet. It's too early to tell.

I'm currently learning how to dance the Argentine style of tango. I'm not terribly good at following though.

At one point in time I would have said that writing was my passion, but nowadays I don't know what is in relation to the arts.

Where are the D&D minis? I have to see where I am!

I'll do whatever I need to in order to express whatever's driving me; write (fiction, fantasy, sci-fi or poetry), scribble/draw/doodle.  I loved playing my clarinet but I dont' see that as self-expression so much as "I love to play music and I love how the clarinet sounds".  I love to make things out of clay and play around with stuff like that, and I also very much enjoy painting ceramics.

Adorkable.

I write, but mostly essays and other non-fiction.

I've done short stories, poetry, and even started a novel.

I paint, draw, and occasionally sculpt in clay or with found objects.

I love photography in all formats that I've attempted, and seem to be especially good at people, so long as they are relaxed enough around me and the camera to not pose.

I sew, and have taken up quilting.

I crochet.

I think that's everything.

I'm not what you'd call a proper artist.

I can write a mean essay when inspiration strikes, but I have no illusions about the quality or quantity of my fiction writing. Some of my photographs have impressed others, but I lack the artistic eye and drive to make my photography really outstanding. I love music, but I lack the talent to create new stuff, I am only ever able to play or sing what's already there.

Pink and Melty

I'm a writer, when I'm not too busy.  I'm doing Nanowrimo again this year (and maybe even completing it!), and I'm going to try and give my muse a workout by doing ScriptFrenzy this year too.

I sing fairly well, when I'm not drunk or trying to impress people.

I dance horribly, but it feels nice.

I really do miss writing.  I have 2 half-finished novels from Nano (one dark-crime-"Sin City" kinda stuff, the other a cheezy romance one), and an almost 3 chapters in Fantasy novel that I really thought would go places.

I loose interest too quickly.  This is why I blog.
