That was interesting and every bit as fascinating as tracking the various changes to the US Pledge of Allegiance. Now I almost feel less bad about the weirdness surrounding the history of the German national anthem. OK, so we always used the same text, we were (and are) just being selective which part of the text would be legal to sing in which period.
