Isn't the seven day week based on Christianity as well?

I have a mathematical solution to all this. All years will now appear on a number line. Hence, we are now in the year +2010, and the dinosaurs died around the year -65,000,000. Of course, this doesn't completely solve things, because those dumb guys didn't use a year "zero"... dammit.

Actually it seems the 7 day week technically is of Christian origin, but only because Pope Gregory the something-th took the old Roman/Germanic calendar system and made some minor tweaks to it so that it'd to be more accurate - before, it was about 11 minutes off.

Oh hell now I'm trawling wikipedia again.

Sounds good to me, but some subdivision of the month would be useful. I don't think quartering it is a problem -- call it by moonphases.

Nope, it's Jewish. The scriptural basis is Genesis 1 -- seven days for creation. But it seems the idea was already around...

Yup -- so good the Babylonians thought of it.  ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven-day_week

How dare ancient Iraqis impose their calendar on us! Clearly we must change immediately to a seventeen-day week, or the terrorists will have won! :-^
