I'm surprised that "Hope" wasn't more prominent in the Obama one.

Meh, I can't speak for the rest of Europe, but noone seems to know dick about the American elections here, except that they've heard of Obama and that he's some kind of liberal superhero, so we like him. Don't take it too seriously, just because we're opinionated doesn't mean we're well informed.

Personally, I think telling the UN to go fuck itself would be the single best thing that America could do for the "rest of the world". It is a corrupt and impotent organisation, mired down in it's self-created bullshit, and has a proven record of chronic incompetence. It has long outlived its usefulness. League of Democracies FTW.

Also, Ive made a decision to become the forums official McCain apologist, because Jabba is still mouthing off and making every sane liberal look like a raging idiot, despite having long driven off anyone with the energy to bother disagreeing with him, and it's getting on my tits.

Knock yourself out. Redstate has plenty of stories that aren't complimentary to Obama that you can repost. I'm confused by the kind of mindset that decides there must be a counterpoint to every point, to me it seems like the kind of person who'd have a foot in freezing water and a foot in boiling water and call it balance. It's like insisting on being an apologist for Jerry Falwell or Hugo Chavez or Richard Nixon. But then, I'm a frothing insane liberal.

Slack.

Well when you're sitting in a tub of boiling water it's generally nice to add in some ice water so you can get some kind of balance.  I also have a feeling that the analogy of a frog placed in a beaker of water which is then heated to boiling without the frog noticing might be applied here as well.

Then again, I shouldn't expect you to understand.  Once a fundy, always a fundy... just one of a different color.

His last name is Johnston, and that's not as funny as the Palin/McCain one.

Prominent Clinton backer and DNC member to endorse McCain

Quote
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

Anybody else see something there that doesn't exactly pass the smell test?

I make shiny things, you need them.

Wealth does not make you an elitist by default. I know many middle class professors who are the worst kind of elitists.

I'm happy. See, I'm smiling!

I am saddened to see the strategies followed by the Republicans since having brought in Sarah Palin as the VP candidate. They have responded to every attack on her qualifications (as opposed to attacks on her policies) as if they were sexist attacks, and are now actively accusing Obama of sexism. In advertisements that are pretty much entirely spin and twist, they've taken a number of quotes completely out of context to suggest that Obama is being "disrespectful" to Palin.

Funny... I don't see much respect on either side of the board, but what I do is coming from Obama's campaign. You know, the guy who tried to cut off the attacks on Palin's family, in fact on ANYONE'S family, saying that attacks on families are off-limits, and especially children. And he wait to do this until HIS family came under attack, but stood up in front of the press and said it when HER family was being bombarded by questions about her daughter.

How disrespectful of him!
