Left his attack boots in China
http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/08/30/police_raids/
tl;dr: Squaddies bust in on people intending to protest the RNC for no apparent reason. Of 50 people intimidated with rifles and made to lay on the floor cuffed for nearly an hour, two or three were arrested for "conspiracy to commit riot."
I hope there is one. I wish I was there for it.

Yeah, I heard about that. I'm still kinda awestruck over the video capture of the officer slamming the Code Pink protestor into the pavement. I'm not one to automatically jump on the police brutality bandwagon, but from everything I've read and seen about it, it seemed rather unjustifiable really.
Edit: There was *certainly* no excuse for calling her a bitch.
That doesn't seem like very...Professional officer-ish language.

"Big damn heroes, sir!"
Quote
The officers refused to state why they were there and,
until the very end, refused to show whether they had a search warrant
. They were forced to remain on the floor for 45 minutes while the officers took away the laptops, computers, individual journals, and political materials kept in the house.
THEY HAVE TO SHOW THE SEARCH WARRANT FIRST. If they didn't show the search warrant until the END of the raid, then the entire raid was illegal and any "evidence" found in the course of the raid will not be allowed in court.
Oh yeah. I see lawsuits coming.

I'll take American History for $2000 please, Alex.
I believe this comes down to a mentality of "We have to prevent a Chicago 1968". Not saying that their methods are correct; this is way excessive and they didn't even compare to the lack of crackdown in Denver this year. Hell, in Denver there was all sorts of craziness allowed as long as it away from the actual convention hall. This... smacks of Republican knee-jerk mentality, which is sadder with the possibility the whole damn thing could possibly be cancelled due to Hurricane Gustav. As much as I usually try to be devil's advocate for most things, even this I can't see as healthy for anything. I just think it's ironic that we diss Beijing just two months ago for this sort of crap and then go ahead and do it ourselves. I really hope things will change after Bush and his "permanent war powers" crap gets booted out in January.

We can't stop here, this is bat country
Related to this, Ron paul, despite getting a decent number of votes and delegates, has been barred from the Republican Convention, and instead is holding "Ronstock" in St Paul. It's up to 10,000 people so far. Additionally, in battleground state Nevada the state Republican party had to shut down its state convention
because of Ron Paul supporters having too much influence on it
.
And here I thought the Democrats were the ones holding a divided convention. Between this and the strongly pro-life presidential ticket the Republicans are fielding, I'm guessing the theme of their convention will be "Rights are overrated, aren't they? Vote Republican because we're at war with Eurasia!"

Isn't everything outside of Fox and Redstate considered leftist these days?
It's no surprise we haven't seen more about this in the legitimate media. Haven't you heard? McCain's running mate is a woman! And Obama is black! Also, hurricane! Wow!

I realized there may be some folks who have no idea which incident I was referring to, this is the brief Youtube clip:
http://www.youtube.com/v/KfISlq1gzK8
The guy who filmed it, actually put up an extended cut, with commentary on what he saw/was doing, to help ease any cries of subversive editing. Granted, that still doesn't mean there may or may not be more to the story, but, well, you judge for yourselves:

No, but Raw Story is. You don't have to believe me, check out the site.
Even the article I linked to is a bit hyperbolic.
