I find that list annoying because it's cribbed from a racism list and is suffering for it the same way a list of sports jokes would suffer if you replaced the word "football" with "ping-pong".

Mainly though I dislike it because I think feminism should be about equality, and promotion of feminism ought to be structured to be inclusive. But that list is divisive right from the get go (the title). I'd like it a lot better if it were a list constructed to highlight the different privilege that different genders have, and I think people like Johnny would probably react a lot better to it if it were.

Because really, it's no more right to expect every man to like tools than it is to expect every woman to want to have kids. I see the problem as being one of different expectations for the genders, while this list seems to see the problem as different expectations for women.

Not to mention that it's western-centric and ignores huge issues world wide.

Yes is the word to everything.

Go listen to my sister's band.

I think the checklist is a useful base ground for getting people to stop for a moment and consider the differences in how people are generalized.

Although, re-reading the list, I've found one more that I think its reaching a bit:

26. My clothing is typically less expensive and better-constructed than women’s clothing for the same social status. While I have fewer options, my clothes will probably fit better than a woman’s without tailoring. (More).

That one just sorta tells me that the author is a dink who doesn't know how to shop properly. It tells me that that've never set foot inside a Value Village, for starters. Shopping brand-name designer-labeled retail is going to hammer your bank account regardless of whether you're buying fancy dresses or fancy suits.

Edit: Okay, having read the longer explanation attached to the MORE link on that one, I think I have a better idea of where they were trying to go with that one.

Signed for all of this.  That's a pretty good sum-up of the issue as I see it, also.

Yes.  Anu nailed this one.
A friend disappointed me a short while ago. She e-mailed a message with the subject line 'Trap Neuter Return' and the message had nothing to do with the Duggar family. *sad* -Hippie

I'm all wrong, everything I have said is wrong, and I am an awful, evil person for saying it. There we go. You win. Conversation ended.

So... the above statement is wrong? If you keep being wrong in the debate forum we're going to have to force you to wear khaki with mustard accents.

Oh, dear crappiness, they did it again.

And then this:

Aaaaand, the problem is the skirts, now, and, y'know, not the evil crazy-dude trying to rape young women. Look, I'm utterly drunk and even *I* see the flaws in that train of thought.

Dear ladyfolk: On behalf of my country and police-force, I heartily apologize.
They're kinda dumb. They may mean well. [They do.] But they're still kinda dumb.

THIS MESSAGE BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY SKIRTS!
Skirts. They are awesome. Flirts in skirts are even better.

And now I've just obliterated every point I was trying to make.

Wait. I had a point? *meep*
