I wouldn't trust another person with my contraception.

It's up to me to make certain I don't have any babies by accident.

It's up to my partner to make sure he doesn't start any babies by accident.

He can use the pill for his contraceptive needs, and I can use my Implanon.

You are Too my Monkey

For now I'd rather not use it, at least until I've seen it used widely by the public.

I'd prefer to wait for this other stuff that's coming out in the next few years that they've been researching that is an Etonogestrel-based topical gel that has demonstrated the lowest risk of side effects in men (and a modified version of which is under testing that works for girlies too, though with a slightly higher risk of side effects) that I now can't find a link to.

I'm not opposed to the idea of taking birth control, and if my favorite sperm reseptical (I love you sweetie!) starts developing health problems as a result of being on birth control, I'll probably reconsider my choice, but for now I'd like to wait and make sure they get all the glitches out before buying in, kinda like I did with the XBOX360.

Thank you S_C, you said it better than I could. I don't seem to be good with words. But I'm still not one to trust a guy to take it. Thats a very personal reason and I don't expect people to understand or agree with it. I'm just an ass that way.

Don't blink.

After the stuff has been out for a few years and they have no deaths linked to it I would look into it.  In the meantime my wife likes being on depo.  Who am I to question her?  We still use a condom as well, just because we know there is a chance of her getting pregnant despite the depo.

This totally reminds me of a story I heard the other day.  Apparently a couple of people I know from high school are having a kid together... and by 'together' i mean -she- poked holes in the condom and he's freaking out over it.

I'm with S_C... If a guy wants to take a pill just to be extra safe -great-.  I'm still gunna have one, if not two, forms of protection of my own that I -know- are working properly.

I'm paranoid like that. *nods*

Swift as a deer, size of a dog, head like a monkey

That happened to a guy I used to date.  His ex called him up and did the, "I know we had a bad breakup, but let's be friends," bit.  He, being a decent sort of guy, said, "Sure, no problem."  A couple of months later, she calculated out her days, invited him over for a 'friendly' dinner, bought a box of condoms, and poked holes in every one of them.  He arrives for dinner, she opens a couple bottles of wine, she steers the conversation around to the good times they had, he's newly single, they fall into bed for 'old times sake', and she calls him a month and a half later to tell him she's pregnant.  Her expectation was that he'd come back to her, because he'd 'have to'.  When he failed to do that, she was livid.

She bragged to everyone who would listen about how she'd set him up and try as he might, he could never be completely rid of her (this is the girl who, when she found out he was dating after he broke up with her, followed him thirty miles to my house, waited till he left, then knocked on my door to tell me I was just temporary, and he'd be back where he belonged in no time).

I'm pretty sure that if he'd had the option of a male pill, he'd so have been all over that notion.

The most extreme version of tahat I'd heard of is a woman giving a guy a blowjob while he had a condom on, and later impregnating herself with the contents.  but I imagine that's a lot less common than poking a hole in the condom.

Boom

Yeah, I knew someone who borrowed condoms that had been tampered with. She found out what happened after she realized she was pregnant. Some people are just messed up in the head.

'Borrowed' condoms?

I mean, I can imagine saying, "Hey, friend, I don't have a condom, do you have any?"

But returning them afterwards?  That's just a whole other level of "I don't get that..."

Err, I think you are mixing things up a bit?

I took his story to mean that a friend borrowed a condom from another friend.  The condom that they borrowed form their friend had been tampered with.  They used the condoms, got pregnant, and then later found out that she had been using tampered condoms at the time.

In any case, woah.  As much as it would suck to get pregnant from a guy who lied about taking the male pill or some such thing, at least I could have an abortion.  If a girl did that to you, there isn't really much you can do about it is there, except pay out of the ass for child support for the next 18 years.

Damn that would suck.  Now you know The FearTM instilled in every girl from the time she's old enough to get pregnant.

Uhm, Badger, M-W says that to borrow means "to receive with the implied or expressed intention of returning the same or an equivalent" (emphasis mine). I think it's safe to assume that the latter variant was meant in this case because everything else would just be weird.

You must have borrowed this one from someone else.  It doesn't look like the kind I use.

No little froggies or duckies on it.

I like the kind with froggies and duckies, cause they match my underpants.

Thanks for the thought, though, I think...

Man, he is sleeping with Badger. If the price of that is a few funny-lookin' condoms then bring the funny-lookin' condoms on.

I wouldn't take any kind of pill unless I'd really really had to. I spent three weeks aboard the scientologists' Freewinds and those guys just roll themselves in vitamins. I feel pretty good without any extra vitamins. I think that the Freewinds experience just triggered an underlying feeling I've had for a long time so it's not something I just came up with.

I kind of feel the same for this Male pill. I'm ok without it and as people has managed to live on without it before, so why should I take it?
