Shit, boys, this one's easier than a very easy thing. I'm only listing a couple of routes here.

1) SID MEIER is a noted game designer and received an award for Lifetime Achievement at the 2008 GDC.
2) JULIE HAEHN, a friend of mine and one of the better-networked people in gaming, has volunteered every year at GDC since time immemorial, including 2008.

Alternate route off of GDC:
2) JOHN VECHEY, co-founder of PopCap, is one of the people on the Advisory Committee for the awards the GDC gives out
3) CARL KWOH, an acquaintance of mine who is good friends with one of my other friends and a person I have had dinner with, used to work for PopCap.

Alternate route off JOHN VECHEY, a regular attendee of the Child's Play Charity Dinner held by Penny Arcade every year:
3) ROBERT KHOO, the business manager of Penny Arcade, interfaces with all the VIPs at the Child's Play Dinner, and PopCap is a major, major donor at that dinner every single year. I have Khoo's signature on one of my auction booklets from that self-same dinner, from when there was a screwup with the dinner I'd selected and he authorized the change to the right one.


ETA: Orite, I need to select the next person to chain to. Let's do something that sounds difficult. How about Neil Armstrong?

Hard? You must be kidding, Cyth.

1) NEIL ARMSTRONG landed on the moon with BUZZ ALDRIN, as practically everyone not in the deep Amazon jungle knows.

2) BUZZ ALDRIN, MIT Aero-Astro PhD '63, visits the alma mater all the time. He's met many professors I know, but I'm going to go with:

3) ERIKA WAGNER, my classmate, MIT Health Sciences + Aero-Astro PhD '07, who met him at the 40-year anniversary bash in '09. I had defended the day before and was wiped out :(

Okay, what would be harder? Hmm. Nicholas Sarkozy.

1) Nicholas Sarkozy shared a smoke with Harry Connick, Jr. while Mr. Connick was in France to record with Sarkozy's wife, Carla Bruni.
2) Harry Connick, Jr. was in Independence Day, which also featured Brent Spiner.
3) Brent Spiner gave girl scout cookies to a lovely lady named Shannon at ECCC 2011.
4) That lovely lady is my girlfriend.
