How did you acquire said copy of Mass Effect? It might be in a text document in the folders pertaining to however you got ahold of it.

I've never heard of being able to find a cd key for a game unless you can find the physical thing it was written on. You might need to aquire a new one...

Is it currently installed? Because one website had the following to say:

"heres how i did it, run regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE, Electronic Arts, Electronic Arts, then Mass Effect. It should be over on the right"

Google only works if you already know the right search terms. If you spend half an hour looking with the wrong search terms you are amazed at people who knew the right ones finding it in under a minute.
