Dead Celebrities
« on: May 29, 2010, 12:28:40 PM »
I don't want to make a big memorial thread or anything, and I doubt bad jokes are avoidable, but my idea is to just sort of keep this thread to keep track of recent departures.

This week:
Gary Coleman (42).
Dennis Hopper (74).

Checking the Oracle of Bacon I find they were both in An American Carol together, Coleman as "Bacon Stains Malone" and Hopper as "The Judge."

That's two in close succession. Common superstition predicts a third soon.

Perhaps the late Lynn Redgrave was the first of the trio -- as far as superstitions go.
"Larry, we've been welcomed by you, thank you so much, now would you please just drink your fucking milk and shut the fuck up."

Last month was clearly a terrible time to be an aging celebrity.
A friend disappointed me a short while ago. She e-mailed a message with the subject line 'Trap Neuter Return' and the message had nothing to do with the Duggar family. *sad* -Hippie

Hey! I'm not aging and Paul Gray was only two years older. Course, that kind of makes it worse.

Aww!  I just did a report on him in March.

I found the quote I used in my report.  From the Kazuo Ohno Dance Studio biography:

Quote
When he could not walk by himself, he danced with the supports by others. When he could not stand even with the supports, he danced as he seated himself. When his legs didn't move as he wanted, he danced with his hands. When he lost himself, he crawled on his knees and audience were so moved by watching his back.

Sebastian Horsley, August 8, 1962 – June 17, 2010

Quote
Eight days after the West End premiere of the play based on his autobiography, Dandy in the Underworld, top-hatted London-based extreme artist and lifestylist Sebastian Horsley was found dead this morning at age 47 of an apparent heroin overdose.

Born to wealthy alcoholics, Horsley is best known for traveling to the Philippines to be crucified as part of his research for a set of paintings dealing with the topic. But besides his arcane fashion sense, penchant for whoring, and ability to make the scene—running with the likes of Nick Cave, Current 93, Coil and others—Horsley was an accomplished painter and writer, and a guy with a drawling accent who could hold court in a red velvet chair with the best of them.

The Soho Theatre cancelled tonight’s performance of Dandy…, but will continue on tomorrow. Our own Richard Metzger put it best when told the news: “How sad that the world has one less total pervert.”
