This is where I say something clever.

Because I don't think we have a thread for them yet.

Sound of Silence, by Simon and Garfunkle

Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
A neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one deared
Disturb the sound of silence.

Fools said I,you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you.
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the signs said, the words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.
And whisperd in the sounds of silence.

Her Impishness Mrs Choc

I was listening to this earlier and it just made me think of this bunch of weird people I hang out with on the internet... Tongue

R.E.M.-Shiny, Happy People

Shiny happy people laughing
Meet me in the crowd
People people
Throw your love around
Love me love me
Take it into town
Happy happy
Put it in the ground
Where the flowers grow
Gold and silver shine

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing

Everyone around love them, love them
Put it in your hands
Take it take it
There's no time to cry
Happy happy
Put it in your heart
Where tomorrow shines
Gold and silver shine

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing

I'd say this was my anthem, but it really isn't, though if it was, it'd be really really cool.

Horslips - Trouble (With A Capital T)

High on the mountain stands a boat,
But are they gods or real folk?
We can't see the fire but we smell the smoke.
Who'll take the plough? Who'll be the yoke?
Night after night I don't believe.
We are the ones you won't deceive.
Not a thing will you achieve
'cos we belong and we won't leave.

Trouble, trouble.
I try to chase trouble but it's chasing me.
Trouble, trouble.
Trouble with a capital T.

Lay down your silver and your gold.
I'm a man who can't be sold.
And, even when my heart grows cold,
I'll curse your evil stranglehold.
The waves are running much too high.
It's got so dark can't see the sky.
But a change is coming by and by,
A time to laugh, a time to die.

Trouble, trouble.
I try to chase trouble but it's chasing me.
Trouble, trouble.
Trouble with a capital T.

Been so long away from home,
I almost made this place my own.
Now it seems I'll soon be gone,
Moving on and all alone.
High on the mountain stands a boat,
But are they gods or real folk?
We can't see the fire but we smell the smoke.
Who'll take the plough? Who'll be the yoke?

Trouble, trouble.
I try to chase trouble but it's chasing me.
Trouble, trouble.
Trouble with a capital T.

Trouble, trouble.
I try to chase trouble but it's chasing me.
Trouble, trouble.
Trouble with a capital T.

You can hear these Irish Rock Gods http://www.youtube.com/v/0nYDRCeA7tk.

(If you like what you hear, Amazon.com has the album - and their label is unaffiliated the British/Irish version of the RIAA, so if you're boycotting RIAA affiliated labels, you have nothing to worry about. On the minus side, you do have to import the album from Ireland. However, it's worth the money - Horslips definitely falls into the catagory of one of the greatest bands you've never heard of.

I don't know why exactly I find this song so haunting, but it's one of the few that gives me chills. Maybe it's not even the lyrics, but the instrumental work, and Hope Sandoval's slightly eerie but lovely voice.

At any rate, Mazzy Star's Fade Into You:

I want to hold the hand inside you
I want to take a breath thats true
I look to you and I see nothing
I look to you to see the truth
You live your life
You go in shadows
Youll come apart and youll go black
Some kind of night into your darkness
Colors your eyes with whats not there.

Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think its strange you never knew

A strangers light comes on slowly
A strangers heart without a home
You put your hands into your head
And then smiles cover your heart

Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think its strange you never knew

Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think its strange you never knew
I think its strange you never knew

This is where I say something clever.

One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong, by Leonard Cohen

I lit a thin green candle, to make you jealous of me.
But the room just filled up with mosquitos,
they heard that my body was free.
Then I took the dust of a long sleepless night
and I put it in your little shoe.
And then I confess that I tortured the dress
that you wore for the world to look through.
I showed my heart to the doctor: he said I just have to quit.

Then he wrote himself a prescription,
and your name was mentioned in it
Then he locked himself in a library shelf
with the details of our honeymoon,
and I hear from the nurse that he's gotten much worse
and his practice is all in a ruin.

I heard of a saint who had loved you,
so I studied all night in his school.
He taught that the duty of lovers
is to tarnish the golden rule.
And just when I was sure that his teachings were pure
he drowned himself in the pool.
His body is gone but back here on the lawn
his spirit continues to drool.

An Eskimo showed me a movie
he'd recently taken of you:
the poor man could hardly stop shivering,
his lips and his fingers were blue.
I suppose that he froze when the wind took your clothes
and I guess he just never got warm.
But you stand there so nice, in your blizzard of ice,
oh please let me come into the storm.

*Preforms Threadcromacy*

From the department of lyrics that tend to make me giggle:
Want it All Back preformed by The Seatbelts

Lyrics by Tim Jensen
Music and Arrangement by Yôko Kanno
Performed by Mai Yamane*

*It probably wouldn't be as funny if it were sung by a guy

You said you wanted to see Paris
So I took the movies
Bon Amie or something French like that.

And then you said you were eembarrassed
'cause I never bought you jewelery
Television shopping fixed all that

Funny thing
'cause I haven't seen you lately
When I called your house it wasn't you who told me

I heard it all from your dad
I used up all my money on you baby and I want it back
I want it back
I used up all my money trying to please you and I want it back

Do you remember late last winter
you said that you had nothing to wear
Those paper pajamas looked real nice

I couldn't take you to Miami
I took you to the ocean and we
had some Blue Hawaiis on the beach

Let me think
If I add up all you owe me
and include me time I might might make it through the summer

And I guess that ain't too bad.
I used up all my money on you baby and I want it back.

I said I want it back.
I used up all my money trying to please you and I want it back

Snow Patrol - Ways and Means

Getting, too, busy, to make amends
I should try to make it right:
Are you ready for, the shit, to hit-
I think you say you are but aren't;
Doctor, make it better, instantly
You're the only one who can;
I've been waiting here my whole, damn, life
And I've forgotten what I wanted.

Maybe I can do it/If I put my back in-to it/I can leave you if I wanted,
But there's nowhere else, that I can go;

Maybe I won't suf-fer/If I find a way to love her,
I'd be lying to my-self,
But there is no way out, that I can see...

If I lied you'd know it instantly.
So I just had to look away;
All the honesty I've everrr lost;
I can't begin to even curse;
I never knew the taste of blood, till now;
It's clear I never should have known.
Breathing fire was never, this much fun;
So there's a dark side in us all.

Maybe I can do it/If I put my back in-to it/I can leave you if I wanted,
But there's nowhere else, that I can go;

Maybe I won't suf-fer/If I find a way to love her,
I'd be lying to my-self,
But there is no way out, that I can see...

Ave Maria

Ave Maria! Jungfrau mild,
Erhöre einer Jungfrau Flehen,
Aus diesem Felsen starr und wild
Soll mein Gebet zu dir hinwehen.
Wir schlafen sicher bis zum Morgen,
Ob Menschen noch so grausam sind.
O Jungfrau, sieh der Jungfrau Sorgen,
O Mutter, hör ein bittend Kind!
Ave Maria!

Ave Maria! Unbefleckt!
Wenn wir auf diesen Fels hinsinken
Zum Schlaf, und uns dein Schutz bedeckt
Wird weich der harte Fels uns dünken.
Du lächelst, Rosendüfte wehen
In dieser dumpfen Felsenkluft,
O Mutter, höre Kindes Flehen,
O Jungfrau, eine Jungfrau ruft!
Ave Maria!

Ave Maria! Reine Magd!
Der Erde und der Luft Dämonen,
Von deines Auges Huld verjagt,
Sie können hier nicht bei uns wohnen,
Wir woll'n uns still dem Schicksal beugen,
Da uns dein heil'ger Trost anweht;
Der Jungfrau wolle hold dich neigen,
Dem Kind, das für den Vater fleht.
Ave Maria!

Tim, wish you were born a girl,
So I could've been your boyfriend.
I know it's not possible now.
I just never met a girl I like half as much as you.

And we could lay around in bed, stay there all day,
Or at least until the afternoon
And I could make you spaghetti with tomato sauce
With just a touch of oregano and a parsley stem.

And then when you got sick,
I could take the day off work.
I could've made you chicken soup,
And we could watch soap operas
- oh, those TV dramas!
I could catch your cold
and you could take care of me.

If I could've met you at school, or met you at work,
It would have changed everything.
Those years of losing, confusion and insecurity,
They would have been shared,
they would have been easier.

Tim, wish you were born a girl,
So I could've been your fiancé.
I'm not saying you can't be all these things for me,
But it's just not the same because you're a man,
and so am I.

A Sad Day For Me

Patchwork Quilt by Warren Haynes

I never knew you
But then who really did?
If you were at all like me
You managed to keep yourself hid
A patchwork quilt of a life
Memories embroidered
On your soul

So please forgive me
For putting you in my song
But the spirit she moves me
In fact she pushes me along
It's a patchwork quilt of a life
Can't stop the river
Just let it roll

We were at Jones Beach
When we got the word
Saddest sound that I ever heard
The bluest note that nobody could play
Ravens sang with us that night on the stage
Tears of sadness, tears of rage
But nobody spoke, we all felt old
And in the way

So walk beside me
Or above me, I don't know
These days it sure seems
I'm lost where ever I go

God, how could you, I heard someone say
And what do we do with our lives now anyway?
Now that our North Star can no longer be found

But there's a banjo moon in a tie-dyed sky
Hippies dance and babies cry
Church bells ring as a silver-haired angel look down
And the blood of his music runs through the veins of our guitars
Bright lights, Dark Star

I never knew you
But then who really did
If you were at all like me
You managed to keep yourself hid

"Big damn heroes, sir!"

Flogging Molly - The Likes of You Again

Here's to you, I sing for my daddy-o
As I lay him down to sleep
It's been so long, since I lost my daddy-o
Hope he's watchin' over me

Wednesday night is mornin' now
As I'm walkin' in the rain
The birds are screaming in my ear
Drivin' me insane
Half the clouds are empty
So the sun burst through the sky
The puddles show reflection
Of a face about to die
Just around the corner, I was goin' round the bend
I ran into a staggerin' fool
Who said he knew my name
He poured himself a whiskey
And his face began to glow
Two men without an answer
Like a dog without a bone

Bringin' in the new year
The bells began to ring
Fats is in the corner just about to sing
Time to get another before the final shout
You should have heard them roarin'
When they dragged the bugger out
And we'll never see the likes of you again

Jimbo came from slummin' town
A cold and dreary place
To summerland he found himself
The sun shun on his face
Met a girl called Minnie Pearl
Swore she'd always be his girl
Happy ever after, till the tide ran out again
Pour me all your sorrows
And I'll drink till you are dry
I'll love you in the mornin'
Christ, I'll love ya till you die
I'll never leave so never grieve
I'll be back before ya know
But Jimbo fell into a well
And never rambled home

Carried all his troubles in an unforgivin' bag
Back and forth through painted brick
The colours all seemed bland
I've traveled all these years, he said
To only get this far, so he crossed the street
Found a seat, his home is now a bar
And we'll never see the likes of you again

There must be more to life, than this poxie life
All the agro, all the pain
So he disappeared into his final beer
But the glass was empty, once again, again, again

Woke up in an awful state
Dreamt I was at Peter's Gate
Beggin' for his mercy
And the crimes that were at hand
He told me he was much amused
To see this life I had abused
Best be on your way, but have a swig before you go

So I'm bringing in the New Year
The bells began to ring
Fat's in the corner just about to sing
Time to get another before the final shout
You should have heard them roarin'
When they dragged the bugger out
And we'll never see the likes of you again

All because I lurves my electro and Miss Kittin...

Allergic - Miss Kittin

Batteries exhausted but emotionally charged
The whole world can hear me as I think too loud
Unlucky in gambling, unlucky in love
Time to remote my velvet glove

Allergic. Allergic

I meditate in public day and night
As my positive thinking is on strike
Ego scratched under the sole of my sneaker
Feel like falling asleep with my head in the speaker

I'm allergic to myself
I'm allergic to myself
I'm allergic to myself

Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out)

Rows of houses, all bearing down on me
I can feel their blue hands touching me
All these things into position
All these things we'll one day swallow whole
Fade out again
Fade out

This machine will, will not communicate
These thoughts and the strain I am under
Be a world child, form a circle
Before we all go under
Fade out again
Fade out again

Cracked eggs, dead birds
Scream as they fight for life
I can feel death, can see its beady eyes
All these things into position
All these things we'll one day swallow whole
Fade out again
Fade out again

The Barenaked Ladies — Take it Back

It's hard enough to notice
Harder still to react
Just a stone's throw from the centre of our attention
We all fade to black

So save me from a villainous imagination
Deliver me from my friends
And if I said something to make you mad
I will take it back

It's hard enough to stomach
But try to look away
Is this a news report, or a trailer for a motion picture?
It all fades to grey

So save me from a villainous imagination
Deliver me from my friends
And if I said something to make you mad
I will take it back

Long lines and mourning signs
Think of all the lives saved by plastic knives
It's not even make-believe
We will never lose if we remove our shoes

It's hard to keep your mouth shut
Harder still to make noise
But we can't have perfect 20/20 hindsight
That our fate enjoys

So save me from a villainous imagination
Deliver me from my friends
And if I said something to make you mad
I will take it back
I will take it back

QnP - Gheisterstadt

You can't get far with a worm in your vein, you can't get far before it enters your brain,
It's like you tried to escape, but you missed the train, and this crazy German helltown will drive you insaneee,
So take a look around at the shennanigans you see, it's like every monster and his dog is out to bother me,
I got Ragmen to my left and doctor-demons to my right, you know this kinda shit will keep a brother up all night.

But I try to keep positive, and check out the scene, this place is kinda whack, and so is its Queennn,
But I gotta look up, and brighter things will come, and they'll probably be evil so Ill shoot them with my gun,
Then they still won't be dead, so Ill shoot them some more, and shoot them, and shoot them, until they hit the floor,
Then just to be careful; cautious and safe, Ill shoot them motherfuckin' beasts till they resemble a paste WHAT

You can't run far if there's a worm in your vein... you can't get far before it enters your brain...
you can't run far if there's a worm in your vein... you can't get far before it enters, your brain...

Puppetmaker tried to play me: brother, I was annoyed!
Got chased down the streets by evil girls and evil boys,
I holed up in a hotel, by the name of "Teufel's Bett",
If there was a bellboy, I havn't met him yet.

So I tried to be calm- and rational, too,
But if you was me? Now playa, what would you do?
I freaked out, like crazy, and took to the street
The worms looked at me like I was, a tasty treat

So I said 'Yo! this is bullshit! It's time to leave town!' But the worms closed in and, began to surrond
so I turned and I ran- had to get away from these things- but I tripped and I fell, it hurt and it stinged
And so I was thought I was done for, but they started to groove!
And damn me for a fool, but them worms could move!
So I asked them, "Yo! Are y'all in a trance?"
"No silly!" (They said,) "Mr Monster likes to dance!"

You can't run far if there's a worm in your vein... you can't get far before it enters your brain...
you can't run far if there's a worm in your vein... you can't get far before it enters, your brain...
ok...

The worms crawl in,
the worms crawl out,
they eat your brains and they make you shout,
the worms are waiting around every turn,
they laugh and dance as you cry and burn.

the worms crawl in,
the worms crawl out,
they eat your brains and they make you shout,
the worms are waiting around every turn,
they laugh and dance as you cry and burnn...

You can't run far if there's a worm in your vein... you can't get far before it enters your brain...
you can't run far if there's a worm in your vein, you can't get far before it enters, your brain, you can't run far if there's a worm in your vein, you can't get far before it enters, your brain....

lalalala your brain....
are you insane?
Nobody knows except, nobody
who knows it all
what am I saying
...what am I talking about?

Confessions Part III Lyrics

Watch this

These are my confessions
Just when I thought I said all I could say I came up up with more secrets to tell you today
These are my confessions
Slip my mind the last two times
Silly me, so now I gotta give you part three of my confessions
First I told you about the skank that I was cheating with, then I mentioned she's having my kid
That's not all, now I recall more you see, so I'll give you part three of my confessions

Now this is gonna be the hardest thing I ever had to do,
Gonna tell you everything I left out of parts one and two
Like remember when I told you I knew Paulie Shore (Paulie Shore)
That's a lie, I don't know what I said that for
I borrowed your chapstick (from you)
I tried out your nose hair trimmer (too)
And by the way your diamond ring is cubic circonium,
I killed your goldfish accidently, just replaced it with another one

These are my confessions
Just when I thought I said all I could say I needed to get some things off my chest right away
These are my confessions
Slipped my mind the last two times, silly me, I guess I gotta give you part three of my confessions
I threw up on your dog last time I had too much to drink
There have been times when I've peed in your sink
Don't know why, but you and I should agree that belongs in part three of my confessions

Baby forgive me I'm still trying to figure out why I used your toothbrush to clean off the bathroom grought
Oh and sometimes in private, I really like to dress up as Shirley Temple and spank myself with a hockey stick (hockey stick)
My boss thinks I'm a jerk, I didn't get that raise.
I haven't changed my underwear in twenty-seven days!
And when I'm kissing you I fantasize you as a midget
I'm so sorry Debbi! I mean Bridget!

These are my confessions
Just when I thought I said all I could say I got a few more secrets I'd like to convey
These are my confessions
Slipped my mind the last two times, silly me, I guess I gotta give you part three of my confessions
Gave you buttered toast I dropped and then picked up off the floor
FYI it was not a cold sore
Ooops my bad, but you'll be madder at me when I finish part three of my confessions

You don't know how hard it is for me to tell you this, but remember that shirt that you got me for my birthday?
Well, I returned it for store credit. That thing was hideous, what were you thinking?
O and by the way, I wasn't really sick last week,
I just didn't wanna go to your stupid office picnic
Oh and when I told you at breakfast we were all out of rice krispies,
What I meant was that there was only enough left for me. Sorry.

These are my confessions
Just when I thought I said all I could say, I thought of some more things that should scare you away
These are my confessions
Slipped my mind the last two times, silly me, I guess I gotta give you part three of my confessions
Once I blew my nose and wiped it on your cat
And I lied, yes that dress makes you look fat
Anyway, I shouldn't say anymore 'til I give you part four of my confessions
