"Big damn heroes, sir!"

Because reading is good, and I always love to hear the recommendations of others.

I just finished up Joe Haldeman's The Forever War yesterday: damn good book!  Now I'm working on Heinlein's Starship Troopers.  LOVING it. Love

Paying The Price: Ignacio Ellacuria and the Murdered Jesuits of El Salvador by Teresa Whitfield...not by choice, mind you. I get to read about the massacre at El Mozote next. Joy.

Heinlein's Time Enough for Love

It's a bit weaker than I had expected. It has it's good moments, sure, but IMHO both Stranger in a Strange Land and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress are far more entertaining.

Considering rereading John Dies At the End. (That's on pointlesswasteoftime.com. If you have not read it, you are a failure and are missing out on one of the great literary works of this era.)

It's his incomprehensible dirty old man phase, I think I gave up on that particular book about half way through... and I'm a Heinlein fan.

Right now I'm reading some pulp sci fi, David Weber's newest Honor Harrington book, At All Costs.  It's a little slow going for space opera...

I'm looking to read some bios of people, does anyone have a suggestion for a good Teddy Roosevelt or good Winston Churchill bio to read?

Betty Smith's A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. Finally. I've owned a copy for years, and I'm just now reading it. So far, I love it.

Yesterday I finished Jack by A.M. Homes. Enjoyable, but not a new favorite.

Hippie, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn has been in my top five favorite books since I was in 3rd grade.  I think it's the only one up there that's not sci-fi/fantasy.  I just love the characters, the stories, and the interactions.  Everytime I read it (I lost count after 8), I notice new things, and get a different perspective on things I liked, or didnt like, when I read it years ago.  I love books like that.  I hope you like it.  It makes me sad that more people havn't read it.

Right now I'm reading 'Don't Drink Your Milk' by Frank Oski.

I just finished the first two Drizz't series (after all this time), and I really enjoyed them.  Now, I'm looking for something to read next, I'm just not sure where I'll go from here.

I can easily imagine A Tree Grows In Brooklyn becoming one of those books I read numerous times. That's how I feel about Harriet The Spy. I really enjoy reacquainting myself with Harriet every once in a while, and I'm amused, touched, and inspired all over again. I can absolutely see why you love A Tree Grows In Brooklyn so much. Smile
