Dude, this should make the next week of MU-time interesting. I'm kind of getting tired of Sooni though.

Yeah, she's really reaching the point where her character either needs to either be shot, or... actually, yeah, she just needs to be shot.

My boyfriend keeps trying to get my housemate addicted to my internet addictions.  Bad boy!  We're too alike already!

(I was reading this thread, and my housemate turns to me and says, "Do you know what this "Tales of Moo" thing is that [TIP] just linked me to?")

This is where my vote goes. Sooni as the bottom in a humiliation scene would be *awesome*.

As for what happens in the next week, MU-time, I have no idea how the title of Book 4, "Class Acts", meshes with the political campaigning stuff, but I'm sure I'll have fun finding it out. OTOH, I find the the Ariadne, Steff, and Glory story lines far more intriguing than the student senator voting stuff.

I was upset she dropped out of Prof. Ariadne's class, but I know she cares about her scholarship more than making a point... it was just a disappointment.

You know who Im suddenly really interested in? Kiersta.

WHY is she the rep for the Harlowe dorm, exactly? Because she, despite all evidence so far, loves being social with demihumans? Oh yeah, I can see that. In her position as a shy girl who never leaves her room, she's obviously such an amazing choice for floor representative that the administration probably begged her to do it.

I sense there's a story there, somewhere.

Because she needed a job and didn't say No quickly enough when they palmed the Harlow RA job off on her? *shrug* I think there are lots more interesting stories to tell about the people on the fifth floor of Harlowe.

OMG, Twoooooooooo! *MELT*

Yeah, well. Still, I found the stuff, both magical and sexual, about Mackenzie far more interesting than the revelations about Two's past and wardrobe.

Boom

Thoughts on Tales of MU, in no particular order:

*Half demons and prejudice - People believe that even half demons need to feed on humans. This is correct. It is not entirely unreasonable jump from that to assuming they need to kill people, do other horrible things to humans, etc. Also, I'm not sure they would all be rape babies. The Triclops on the floor? Almost assuredly a rape baby. Mack? No clue. I can see a demon seducing a human. Are they always obviously demons? We don't know.

*Professor Ariadne - I'm sure that there is more to this story. And we know that Mack is going back to confront her. She decided that when she Steff convinced her to drop the class. Can elves hear the subharmonic sounds that aren't directed at them? Dee knew there was someone talking to Mack, but could she make it out. She was sitting right next to Mack. Ariadne probably couldn't hear it; she just knew that Mack was listening to something. That's my guess. I'm still not sure on her exact reasoning for treating Mack so badly.

*I'm looking forward to meeting Victor.

*I'm glad I read Terry Brooks' "Running with the Demon" before being introduced to Tales of MU. Issues dealing with magic and demons got me thinking about some stuff that was handy approaching ToMU.

*I like that author's approach to building her world. Instead of taking our reality and slapping magic on top of it, she turns everything upside down. "Science is a nice fantasy, but believe that everything is set up so conveniently? Absurd." (quote from memory, so close enough) Lots of little touches, references to our world that don't have the same meaning there. (ring on the finger) That sort of thing.

*I'm really looking forward to more of Mack's classes. Especially invocation and fighting. Though the thaumatology professor is cool.

That's it for now.

AFAIK, Mackenzie stated quite a while back that the whole horned guy with fangs, hooves, and a tail stuff is bullshit and that demons look like humans. Considering that she is probably the most unreliable source for anything about demons in generally, I'm not sure how far we can trust this piece of information, though. We absolutely know far too little about demons and half-demons in the MUniverse in general, and about how Mackenzie came to be specifically. Even whether or not the belief that half-demons need to feed on humans is true, is not entirely sure. The fact that Mackenzie derives nourishment from it and hasn't eaten human food for years doesn't mean that it has to be that way.

So do I. This should prove to be an interesting encounter with a most interesting character...

Yup, both the world building and all the twisted references to scientific ideas and D&D stuff are really, really neat. In fact, the world building is some of the best I've ever seen for a fantasy setting.

Dead.

OK, I'd seen links to this on webcomics I read, but I hadn't actually checked it out until this thread here.

Now over the past 2 days I've read from the beginning to the latest installment.

This is some fantastic writing. I absolutely love the fantasy world she's created, and I laugh out loud on a regular basis at some of the quirks she throws in (the circle, the "ring on the finger", etc.). I very rarely do more than chuckle at most of the stuff I read, but this is just too good.

She is also very good at characterization, even the characters I don't *like* I can understand. Or at least realize there is more to their story than has been revealed. And I love how everything is filtered through this one character's view, and quite often she just gets it *wrong*.

Overall, I'd have to say that AE must have had a much more....interesting college experience than I did (sadly).

Well, her "demon style needs" are fairly specific, so I'm currently going with the presumption that she knows what her body needs for sustenance. though I can see how she could get it wrong. I recall her saying something about the demon-ness manifesting itself when she was sever or eight or so. So before that she would have lived only on human food? Then when she moved in with her grandmum she began to only eat according to her demon needs. Now it's possible that her gran's opinion on these things could have prevented them from discovering that while the blood of human virgins could sustain her, there were other ways to acquire sustenance. Perhaps that was simply the first thing they tried and it kept her alive and sated. Or maybe her dietary needs really are that specific. I'm only going by what I gleaned the first time reading through, so I'm sure I missed things.
