I'm not so sure, actually. It isn't like she has consumed reasonable amounts of human food with any regularity over the last couple of days, after all. Add to that the fact that she's been conjuring up lots of elemental fire and water, thus depleting her energy stores, and it's easy to see why she'd be hankering for virgin blood even if she were capable of living off human food.

I figure Two will end up being the most obvious and most willing donor. Im not sure what complications could arise from that, other then Mack being guilty... but we'll see.

So what do we think?  Is Bailey somehow corrupted?  Or are nymphs just not as pure as she thought?

I think Barley is a fallen Nymph at this point.  Her reaction suggests that what was going on was a surprise to her, significantly.  So I would think that she was telling the truth, that for ritual/magical requirements a Nymph should be as human as a human and that their inherent divinity makes them pure/virginal at all times.  Like Mack suggesting that Amy never needs to bathe, they've got some purity mojo going on.

Unfortunately for me, it's so  obvious that I'm going to be pissed that she's probably going to drag out forever the fact that Amy could be feeding Mack.  There'll be some situation with the slaver and Mack passing out and coming to with Amy giving her the Interview With The Vampire treatment.

I'm not sure if Two will function as human for magical purpose, and the blood requirement must be magical in nature. It would be interesting if she could, but Two is smart enough and wise enough that I imagine she would have thought of it and has probably tested it (may be that's why she was summoning a demon earlier).

It's still the first few weeks of class, though ... if she high tailed it over to the honors dorm she could probably find a few people to feed from.  But she'd have to act quick ... honors dorms tend to degrade into full blown orgies by midterms.

I am fairly certain that Two won't work, as I am fairly certain she has had sex with her old master.  I know she has been raped at least once that we have been TOLD about, probably more often than that.
A friend disappointed me a short while ago. She e-mailed a message with the subject line 'Trap Neuter Return' and the message had nothing to do with the Duggar family. *sad* -Hippie

And I don't think that Two would be any good anyway. I wonder if a golem even has blood. And if she did, I'm pretty damn sure it wouldn't work for Mack.

Interesting turn of events with Barley.

*new addict*

I've been reading little bits and pieces of this since the S*P ad, but I think it took there being a significant amount of it already up to read to really get me into it. I was expecting, from the ads etc, for the story just to be an excuse for writing about sex, which doesn't really do much for me. Upon discovering, however, that the sex is well and truly a part of the story, and that the story is a damn good one, I've really gotten into it. I've just finished reading from the beginning, and I'm pretty hooked.

I kind of feel like I identify with Mack in a lot of ways. I won't go into specifics (except that to say her reaction to people liking her is very much the same as my own feelings), but reading it she does feel very much like a "me" sort of character.

Huh.

I wouldn't have drawn a connection between you and Mack, other then simularities in self esteem type issues... interesting.

Well, that took a good while longer to actually get through then I had anticipated. Silly people, wanting to celebrate the holidays. :p

I ended up checking this out out of simple curiosity since a number of people here seemed to read it regularly, and ended up enjoying it enough to add it to my list of things I'll have to keep an eye on. As ever when I find something that I enjoy reading, there's just not enough, there's never enough.

I felt strangely sad though when I was done reading through, not at any one particular part but rather the thing in its entirety. The story just seems to touch off some morose note in me.

Two is ridiculously cute.

Anyone else start reading her other story, Tribe, as a result of reading MU?

I read this last week and have been mulling it over.

I think I really like the world and the writing, but the pacing that this format creates doesn't suit me. I feel like I'm taking bunny hops through the narrative - never any long strides or even gentle steps. The rhythm's not something I can get into easily.

Also... she's only covered, like, two weeks in story-time. Since I doubt the plots will work themselves out in anything less than a semester, that means it's going to take a staggeringly long time to post all of it. Maybe I'm the only one bothered by getting a large written narrative in teaspoonfuls.

I read the first couple Tribes. They are just as good as MU.

All her stuff is really quite good. It's just that most of it doesn't hold my interest for long. I can't get into Tribe for similar reasons as why Tamsin can't get into ToMU. Void Dogs is entertaining, but although it lacks the depth of ToMU, I still follow it. I also want to catch up on Star Harbor Nights over the holidays. The Wallflower Report simply breaks my mind, and The 3 Seas looks promising, but there's too little of it up yet.

Regarding the latest ToMU updates, I don't think Two qualifies, as Mackenzie's requirement has been stated as human virgin blood and Two is an emancipated golem and not human. I'd really like Mackenzie to ask Amaranth ASAP, so we can avoid a) more altercations with the sleazy slaver and b) Steff doing something illegal and potentially, down the road, very destructive in order to get Mackenzie some virgin blood from the university's Necromancy department.

Actually, yes! Can I be blamed?

(I am actually curious, if any of the specifics are non-sex related or otherwise not private.)

Heheheh. ''Due to popular request and an errant disposition...''

You know, Ive thought long and hard about it, and GOD do I want to tap Alexandra Erin. Or at least, hit on her obnoxiously, and provoke her into using a scathing and witty putdown to get me to shut up.

For serious. I have no idea what she looks like, but nevertheless Id hit that shit like a freight train.
