Well, here's my character, I finally got round to actually writing it up!

Name: Brian Fairchild

Age: 33

Physical Description: Medium build, dark hair

Personality: Prone to sudden fits of anger and shouting when working in the kitchens, as he is used to working with the best people available and is not used to dealing with people who are not up to the demands he makes of them.

History: Brian moved to Cormorant Island after working in a string of high class restaurants to be with his wife Marie, who had been born on the island, and to open his own restaurant with his business partner, Mark Black. Brian was in charge of the kitchens and provided 75% of the cost of the restaurant and Mark handled the business side as well as providing the rest of the funds. When Mark and Marie ran off together, Brian discovered that the couple had been siphoning off funds from the restaurant for months and he was left penniless and bankrupt. The bank foreclosed on the restaurant and left Brian jobless and living in a small bed-sit, so he was forced to take the only job he was able to find which was working as the head chef of Cormorant Prison.

Items: A large selection of high quality knives, which were the only thing he managed to salvage from the failed restaurant.

Skills:   Brian was known as one of the fastest filletters in the business and as such has a wide knowledge of how to cut meat quickly and strip it from the bone, as well as knowledge of animal anatomy.

Goobs- go ahead and make your chaplain. If two people want the same position, there are two options- add another (like... another gardner etc.) or make each part time. You could have two part time chaplains, maybe they rotate with prisons on the mainland or something, and maybe they're both in today to discuss a prisoner, perhaps.

Name: Elizabeth Ward, A Wing Governor. 

Age: 28

Physical Description: 5'6", red hair in a severe bun, fairly thick-rimmed glasses.  Trim and somewhat athletic.  Looks very much like a woman you would not like to cross, almost as though your meanest grammar school teacher and the super nanny had a baby.  Dark slacks, a dark jacket, and a white blouse.  Sensible shoes.

Personality: Wound up very tight.  Tries very hard to appear to be a tough bitch, at least at work.  Completely insecure and obsessed with both appearances and the approval of her superiors.  Cold to strangers.

History:  An only child of obsessive, workaholic parents, Elizabeth was mostly raised by her nanny.  She excelled at school, mostly because that was the only way she seemed to get any attention from her parents.  After finishing at the top of her class in Upper Sixth and getting absurdly high scores on her A-Levels, she got a degree in Psychology.  She's now doing research on prisoner/guard interaction for her doctoral thesis here on the island. 

Items they are carrying:  She has two pens, a clipboard, a small tape-recorder with a spare set of batteries and a spare mini-cassette, and her handbag, which contains mostly the normal things a handbag contains: spare reading glasses; sunglasses; gum, along with wrappers for same; lipstick; mascara; a mirror; a book of matches; a phone; and her wallet, which has credit cards and ID in it.

Any particular skills they may have:  Elizabeth is an obsessive runner, and has run competitively.  She was a competitive runner all through secondary school, and even ran on the track team at her university, but ultimately chose her studies over running.  She has ridden horses most of her life.  She's been trained on how to hold a patient/inmate so that they can't attack her, and also has the ability to turn that psychologist demeanor and voice which is capable of calming even the most anxious of patients at the drop of a hat.

I'll be running NPCs, but they're all redshirts, so don't expect any of them to be among the living for long.

Ok, so I have a chaplain written up even though Coon clearly had dibs on it first. I'm not sure why that is. I still plan on using the guy I wrote up if no one minds sharing the chaplain position.

Name: Jin Masters

Age: 34

Physical Description: 6'2 black guy, athletic build, angular face. Hair shortly cropped, barely classifying as peach fuzz. He sports that unkempt yet whispery facial hair that's all the rage nowadays. Serious eyes but casual smirk, he is probably out of place with his current surroundings.

Personality: Charming yet calculating, He has a need to be in somewhat of control of a situation, or least to understand it in order to function properly. When in such a place, he's reasonable and trust worthy, a good head on his shoulders that he'll use to the best of his ability.

Without such crutches, he becomes a little hard to deal with, exerting his dominance until he reaches an eternal equilibrium. That's usually reached by grasping the situation or having people fall in line with his plans and/or ideas. He is more sarcastic and biting at these times. It's a natural flaw he tries hard not to show because he knows it will make people less drawn to him. But sometimes he just can't help it.

He naturally tends to look out for people who can't help themselves. When around those people, he's naturally selfless, almost stupidly so.

Jin is embarrassed about his rural upbringing. He spent thousands of dollars training himself to talk like a New Yorker. He has a crushing fear of returning back to poverty. He gives back all he can, although he never visits. The only family member he kept close ties to was his brother, who became an Army Ranger.

History: He tries so hard to put up a casual front, but inside he's probably the most driven person he knows. His family came from the rural south, and he was always ashamed of it. He legally changed his name to Jin to escape any connection to the backwaters life he knew he didn't deserve.

The man loves his family, that much should be assured. But he was convinced from the beginning that the farming life wasn't for him. Jin used his intellect, his charm, and his grace to work his way through school and social settings, marketing himself and networking before he even knew the term. The fact that no one knew anything about his family or past even added to the mystery, as people opened up to him hoping he'd do the same. Instead, he listened and supported every thought and feeling they had, endearing himself more to them. In college, he major in Meteorology, hoping his looks and natural charm could land him at least a local tv spot. It paid off in spades. He landed one of the anchor spots on the Weather Channel.

But even this wasn't enough.

He had some recognition, that's why the Travel Channel approached him. They had some success with the 'Most Haunted' series, and decided he'd be perfect for one of the leads in their new Series 'Odd Ways Out': A series dedicated to highlighting places of mystery. He signed up without hesitation.

Two weeks later, when he was assured the producer was out of the country, he received a package with a two way ticket to London with directions of how to get to Cormorant Island. Apparently, this would be a great place to check out as their first show would be in England. Apparently, one of his two co-hosts might make it out there also, but that was uncertain.

Too excited that his life was finally taking the turn he wanted, he packed enough for a week's trip and headed off to the airport. Life was finally going his way.

Items that he is carrying: At least 300 business cards with his name, email address and cell phone number. A dozen pens, headshots and his resume all in his ever present Attaché case. GPS Cell phone good for anywhere in the world. Mentos (strawberry, he's addicted). A fruit basket (He decided it would be good to make nice with the Wing Governors in case they were going to shoot there). The letter that his Producer sent him and proper identification.

Any particular skills they may have: His brother taught him how to shot a handgun and work with a knife, and advanced Ranger hand-to-hand. Curiously good with puzzles. Can play tunes by ear on the piano. Is good at sewing. top in his baking class, focusing on pastries. Encyclopedic knowledge of the Power Rangers up until after 'Power Rangers In Space', as after that season went off the air the show "started to decline"
