You are Too my Monkey

Name: The Duke of Duplicity, the Marques of Mendacity, the Earl of Entropy, the Vicscout of Vagaries, the Baron of Bedlam, the Sultan of Salsa, Scion of Prometheus, Last Son of Hermes, Bamboozler, Blasphemer, Deceiver, Deluder, Prevaricator, All-Around Fantastic Fuck, Odysseus Wile E. Jesus.

Age: 30-Something.

Sex: Biologically Male

Height: Variable. Weight: 300 lbs.

Nationality/Ethnicity/Religion: American, Native, Cult of Coyote

Appearance: Variable.

Superpower:
Shapeshifting: The Duke can mimic the appearance of any person or roughly humanoid being (4 limbs, a torso, and a head). He can compact his size down to that of a small 5-foot-tall Asian girl, and expand up to about the size of a grizzly bear. He cannot change his mass, so even if he looks like a giant grizzly bear, he still only weights 300 pounds. He can make his skin hard so it’s like punching a brick wall, but it’s still flesh so will be compromised by cutting and bullets and burning and etc. like any other flesh. He can change effortlessly and nearly instantly, though he’s still bound by the laws of physics, so changing from a small Asian boy to a small Asian girl would be relatively quick, but changing from a grizzly to a small Asian girl would take a bit longer. Complex color changes also take time, so going from a brown grizzly bear to a blue uniformed police officer could take minutes. Instead of meeting force with hardness, he generally prefers to let his flesh relax and absorb blows, which greatly lessens the impact, though it obviously causes him to deform some. He can also change his coloration like an octopus in order to blend in with his background, though this takes time just like it does for an octopus.

If he’s knocked unconscious he reverts back to his fleshy form and adopts the coloration of whatever he happens to be lying on.

Advantages:
Electronic Voice Box: His electronic voice box has undergone a series of upgrades over the years and now allows him to mimic the voices of other people, provided he can get at least a 10-second clip of their voice. It takes approximately 8 minutes for the voice box to completely process a voice and be able reproduce it. He usually talks with a deep baritone radio announcer voice.

Accomplished Thief: The Duke is experienced in the arts of taking shit from other people that they don’t want taken from them. His expertise is in cat-burglary which includes breaking and entering and safe-cracking, though he’s a decent enough pick-pocket.

Weaknesses:
Pain Intolerance: Owing to his complex nervous system and the sheer proliferation of nerves in his body, when things hurt, they hurt very very badly. While he doesn’t actually sustain any more damage than someone else similarly harmed, he feels it a lot more, and is more easily debilitated by pain, especially from heat and electricity.

Tracheotomy: The Duke is a comparatively shallow breather, so he tends to get winded if he exerts himself for too long, and while he can hold his breath by virtue of simply moving some flesh over the Tracheostomy, he can’t hold it for nearly as long as the average person.

Electronic Voice Box and Hearing Aids: While he can turn them off at will to prevent damage if he has warning, if he’s caught by a strong enough electrical current or an EMP his devices will short, rendering him deaf and mute.

History:
The Duke was born a horribly deformed bag of flesh. He was born without any bones in his body of any kind, and to compensate nature gifted him with an exceptionally complex nervous system that has laced his body with approximately 8 times the amount of nerve cells as average human and 3 times the amount of skin. His body had some kind of new organ, which amounted to sacks of flesh wrapped in cartilage around his body filled with hematopietic and mesenchymal stem cells as needed. His trachea was also fused at birth so he was given an emergency tracheotomy. His parents were very gung-ho left-wing all-life-must-be-preserved Christians, so instead of killing him off like any compassionate person would do, stuck a hardened plastic skull in his head to house his central nervous system, and then left him to be a deaf, mute, pathetic quivering sack of unendurable pain for the first 5 years of his life, as they did not have enough money to build the rest of a skeleton or any of the other little things that most people take for granted.

Then he started to develop the ability to move. At first the doctors thought it was just more reflexive twitching that was more pronounced due to his growing size, but as time passed he gained more and more ability to control his flesh and one day started crawling around. The doctors ran another series of tests, and realized that his expansive nervous system was linked to what they termed “micro-muscles” throughout this body, which granted him the ability to control and move his flesh on a microscopic scale and with practiced coordination, allowed him to shape his flesh at will.

They affixed him with hearing aids and an electronic voice box and started communicating with him. Within 2 years he was able to talk, at least simply, and with a lot of practice was able to hold a sort of dough-boy shape.

They determined it was safe to release him outside of the hospital and so finally at the age of 8, he was allowed to go home with his parents.

But within minutes of sitting in the back of his parent’s car, he turned completely black, the exact same color of his parents’ upholstery. They rushed him back to the hospital, sure that something was horribly wrong.

Then, within a few minutes of getting back to the hospital he reverted back to his usual sickly white self.

More tests and a number of re-illusioned scientists later, and they realized that his skin was laced with chromatophores (the cells that allow octopi and chameleons to change their color) and they were reacting with his environment, and had so far gone unnoticed because he had spent all of his time in a sterile white place.

He finally went home with his parents and was home-schooled while he continued to develop his ability to control his flesh. Despite the efforts of his parents to make him a good moral Lutheran, he became fascinated with various Tricksters throughout mythology and made a decision to do what he wanted, when he wanted, and to never try to justify his actions to himself or anyone else.

Towards the end of his teenage years, he ran away from home and began a life of petty crime that gradually escalated to bank robbery and pulling elaborate heists. He made an attempt and hacking but was continually thwarted by a clearly superior network security officer and so eventually gave up and went back to meat-space thievery.

When he started showing up on Wanted lists, the Duke began to taunt the government, humiliating police officers and vandalizing government buildings. He found fighting the government proved to be much more entertaining and satisfying than petty theft, so started stealing only from the government and their wealthy cronies, and stepped up his campaign to humiliate and demoralize the government, becoming a sort of cultural hero in the process, despite the fact that when he robbed from the rich he gave to himself instead of the poor.

Equipment:

Wrist-Grapple: A small grappling-hook gun attached to his wrist via an elastic band. Good for aiding in climbing and swinging from things, and it can also be used as an offensive weapon due to the sharp point on the front and on the ends of the grapple, though it doesn’t have a winch, so it’s really only a one-shot deal.

Cat-Burglary Stuff: A small pouch containing a black harness, lock picks, mirrors, onea those thingies what cuts a round hole in glass, an electronic safe-cracker, a stethoscope for the old school safes and a small plasma cutter for the old old school safes.

Virus Cocktail: A collection of various forms of media (discs, flash cards, memory cards, etc.) containing a cocktail of several different computer viruses designed to disrupt local networks and annoy the ever-living hell out of network security officers.

DNA: 4 Small pouches containing someone else’s blood that he can slip underneath his skin in the event that he has to pass a blood screening.

Spray Paint: A can of spray paint with a variable nozzle and 5 different colors contained within, for tagging fun times.

Coat: A long black waterproof coat with many pockets that serves as his only real article of clothing. Useful for holding all of his crap in when he’s out and about doing naughty things. It has straps on it so it can be tied up into a sack and carried like a duffel bag.

There are kangaroos in the world

Name Lyam Gatesmith

Alias Silly Putty

Age 20

Sex Male

Height 5 feets, 6 if he tries, but gravity gets the better of him sooner or later.

Appearance
Lyam looks particularly uninteresting. He either appears five foot tall and rather lumpy, or six foot tall and not so lumpy.
His face hardly stays the same for long due to his condition... And his short hair is the same colour as his skin. His eyes are the same colour as his skin. Pale but with a slight tinge of sickly gray.

Superpower/weakness

Silly Putty
Lyam doesn't have a brain. He doesn't have internal organs. Or a skeleton.
In fact, Lyam's whole body is made up of a constantly reassembling mass of silly putty.
Yes. A constantly reassembling mass of silly putty. Or at least something that has very similar properties.

This is very useful to Lyam, as he can rearrange his face to avoid detection, and so long as no one notices his eyes, he gets by okay.

The fact that the putty is constantly reassembling is useful to him also. It means no matter how disassembled he gets, the putty will always find its way back to the host (the biggest piece) in time. It is tenacious and never gives up until Lyam is whole again.

The only real problem Lyam has had is with fire and extreme heat, as it seems to change the putty making it softer and even more useless than it was to begin with. Parts of him that have been burned take a very long time to regain standard consistency. This makes Lyam sad.

Because the putty just wants to mass together, and doesn't particularly care if the form of the mass is humanoid or not, Lyam must take time every now and again to make sure he is sculpting himself into a form that doesn't rouse too much suspicion.

It's not all sunshine and roses, however!

Being made of putty, Lyam is very close to useless at doing anything other than sculpting himself and accidentally falling through grates into the sewer.

His punches are ineffective as his fists are soft and putty like. He can't easily fire a gun. If he tries to use computers, bits of his fingers get momentarily stuck between the keys.

In fact, in his line of work, Lyam would probably be dead by now if he wasn't so damn hard to kill. His victories tend to come from his superhuman level of stubbornness.

History
When Lyam was six it started. He started to get softer.
It progressed.
Pretty soon Lyam's family kicked him out of the house.
"You're too soft." his Dad had told him. "Get out of my house."

Lyam was sad now. He wandered.

Pretty soon people on the street started noticing Lyam.
"You're to soft." They would tell him. "Get off of our streets."

Lyam refused. They were his streets too, now that he had nowhere else.

The people of the streets soon stopped using harsh words, and started using sticks and stones.
"He is too soft." They would say. "Our sticks and stones become stuck in his body and it is quite disgusting."

Pretty soon the people of the streets became bored of this, and left Lyam in peace.

He was content to wander for a while.

Soon he became bored. There was nothing to do. And no family. And no friends.

The boredom turned to bitterness. And so he wandered, angry at what he was. Angry at his softness.

And then he was crushed by a falling boy.

The boy got up, and wiped some bits of Lyam off of his shirt and onto the ground. He sat down on the floor, and watched in awe as Lyam slowly reassembled and sculpted himself back into something resembling some form of humanity.

"That was awesome." Said the boy.
"You don't think I'm too soft?" Asked Lyam.
"I fell from all the way up there." The boy pointed up to the top of a very high building. "Your softness saved my life! You're a hero, you goddamn freak."
"A hero?" For once Lyam's lifeless looking eyes sparkled.
The boy became bored and wandered off.

    Character Name:  Scota “Scottie” Hope-Vere
    Alias: Luminati
    Age:  24
    Sex:  Female
    Height:  5'9"
    Nationality/Ethnicity/Religion:  American/Scottish/Does being Catholic during confession (but nowhere else) count?

    Superpower:

    Dei sub numine viget - Under God's light she flourishes

    Scottie is light beneath the skin.  Her body constantly absorbs and stores light as a form of energy, taking both the heat and radiation of it.  ((Being in the sun converts to quantity of release time at a ratio of twenty-to-one.  That is, being out in the sun all day would let her burn for 30-40 minutes straight.  Weaker sunlight, strong artificial lights, or indirect sunlight charges her at a slower rate; LA in the summer on the beach would charge her faster.))  She can utilize that energy and modify her absorption of it, resulting in:

    • Noli Me Tangere - Touch Me Not
      Focusing on radiating heat energy, Luminati lets it rise to the surface, superheating her flesh and skin, affecting that which she hits or comes into contact with.  She turns white-hot, the surface of her "skin" measuring at thousands of degrees Fahrenheit.  Example: if she were to touch something like metal, it would melt. ((A hand-to-hand attack while superheated is at +1 damage, +1 to hit, and more likely to result in a stunned foe due to the extreme pain.  If she superheats while grappled or grappling, the damage can be obscene, and a hit is automatic.  Also, while superheated she can ignore the effects of fire and heat, and weapons that rely on such to cause damage (lasers, masers).

      Since you'll probably try grappling a lot - grabbing someone takes a whole turn to attempt, rather than the 2-per-turn for strikes and such.  A one-handed grab takes the same time as a strike, but doesn't give you the +1 to hit and doesn't count as grappling for obscene damage.

      While glowing, stealth is impossible.  As far as defense, it has mixed effects - +1 dodge against close combat attacks (and nobody will try to punch her), but the bonus disappears as soon as someone has, say, a long stick; she's an obvious target for snipers and gunmen, but the light disrupts their aim (so they can't get aiming bonuses)))
    • Lux Sit - Let There Be Light
      For a very short, intense period of time Scottie can shed her skin, traveling as light, made from the pure form of it, effectively radiating light in every direction and blinding whoever looks at her as she speeds to a specific spot within sight.
      ((A standard flash is a good move to blind foes and infrared systems, as well as set fire to all appropriate tinder in the area, though it consumes more energy than burning people.  To teleport with the flash, she has to burn herself out - at the end of the turn, her fire will flicker and die.))

    Super Weakness:

    Light illuminates the world, keeping those within it warm, safe... what would a being made of light be afraid of but the very absence of its self?  Luminati is deathly, horribly afraid of real darkness.  She maintains nothing but a glow when in complete darkness, until she reaches a breaking point – panicking, her fear causes a loss of control, her body expelling all the light inside to rid her of what is dark… this wipes her out, afterward requiring exposure to some kind of light in order to reactivate her powers.  ((Achluophobia.  Darkness will require fear checks.  In the city, she dashes from streetlight to streetlight on dark nights.))

    Mundane Skills:

    Linguistics and Anthropology
    Scottie's finishing up her Masters in linguistics and anthropology; she can translate a bunch of dead languages (Ancient Greek, Latin, hieroglyphics of the Egyptian variety, etc.), and specializes in the preservation and study of ancient archaeological sites around the world.  She has skills in deciphering writings and languages unknown to her, and could tell you a few things about dead cultures.
    ((Special Skill: Translate Dead Language +2
    Special Skill: Archaeology +2 - useful for identifying ancient sites, cleaning artifacts, and knowing things about dead cultures.  No forbidden lore, of course - she knows about the Anasazi, but not what ended them... (see Hellhound On My Trail 1)))

    Twirl on a Dime
    Scota loves dancing - especially in clubs.  It's her personal environment - a lot of flashing lights, people with odd, shine-in-the-dark clothing on, strobes.  She probably looks like she was born to be there.  Since she's been dancing since she was very young, Scottie is extremely agile. ((+1 to General Athletics (run, jump, climb), +1 to Club Skillz (dance, argue with bouncers, discourage amorous males, pacing your drinking... anything club-related, GM fiat.)))

    Appearance:

    Very green eyes.  Her hair is dyed a metallic shade halfway between silver and bronze, falls just to the nape of her neck, and looks like molten metal.  She keeps it twisted up using two chopsticks.  As a result of her power (she never processes UV rays, just absorbs them into her core), her skin is a snowy white.  She is normally wearing an ear to ear grin, and looks like she is in trouble half the time - which she is.

    For fighting criminals, Scotties dons a simple, fitted garb that covers everything except for her eyes, calves, and arms from the elbow down.  You will never, EVER see Scota wearing black.  It reminds her of darkness. ((Luminati had better get a costume made of some exotic materials - her power will reduce normal clothes to ash in seconds, which is fine when she's a glowing sillhouette but causes problems when she stops her radiation.  Carry spare clothes.))

    Special - Constantly absorbing light, her body gives off a faint luminescence at all times, noticeable only when dark.  She sparkles in sunlight or under bright normal light (such as directly under a streetlight) as she is infused with it on a cellular level.  ((While a burning Luminati can interfere with infrared systems, she has this glowing problem.  -1 to stealth, automatic failure if there's nothing but darkness to hide her, and stands out on infrared.  People wonder how she gets her hair so shiny.))

    History: (Coming Soon)

    Equipment:
    Small flat in Edinburgh with normal accoutrements (books, clothes, etc.)
    Eighty million pairs of jeans and cyber-lookin' t-shirts
    Laptop with an AI interface named Fluffy
    Flashlight
    Moderate Amount Of Money

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Bonuses:
    +1 General Athletics
    +1 Club Skillz
    Luminati has the Antero Seal of Superheroic Rockage, plus the Power Causes Unintentional Nudity award.
    Minxatron
    Name/Alias: Lila Ngo aka Breakneck
    Age: 29
    Sex: Female
    Height: 5'4"
    Nationality/Ethnicity/Religion: American / Half-Vietnamese Half-Wonderbread / Atheist
    Physical appearance: While almost always donning a sly smile, Lila also has a penchant for blouse-jeans combos and those slinky dresses that do fantastic things to her slim curves; she is fit and by gosh, don't she just want people to know it. She tends towards bolder colors that bring out her delicate features and compliment her dark locks, often done up in a sloppy bun. Fluid designs almost resembling Cham script in purple ink dance across her shoulders, slipping down her spine. They would seem to be tattoos, but they appeared on Lila's body a couple of weeks before her power manifested. She took this change in stride and modified her wardrobe slightly to compliment her marks which she is rather proud of.
    Mask appearance: A streamlined bodysuit of a pleasant indigo-purple hue improves Lila's aerodynamics and binds her "amenities" enough so that they do not hinder her movement. Footwear appears to be in boot form, however she has had them modified to support her feet and adjusted the grips on the bottom. Her mask is a wide band of indigo fabric across her eyes, decorated in purple thread with patterns similar to the ones on her body. ((A bit of padding might be in order, a la motorcycle racer gear; see superweaknesses))
    Superpower:
    High-speed - Lila has found that she can move at speeds normally outside the range of a human or any earth-bound animal. Moving fast enough to be nearly unperceivable by the unsuspecting eye is as simple for her as jogging is for a healthy human. Beyond that, after a few seconds of acceleration she can reach dangerously high speeds in the form of tiring sprints that cover ground like none other. There is rarely a reason for her to take on this brutal pace, so she sticks to a "relaxed" tempo where the displacement of air and a streak out of the corner of your eye is the easiest way to tell if she's passed by. Through vigorous training she has gained near-perfect control of her movements at these top speeds so she can maneuver as easily as she would be able to walking down the street. ((She goes 0 to 60 in three seconds and can keep up that speed for a good long time with the maneuverability of a jogger.  She sprints at about 175 mph - 165+1d20, if you demand precision, as fast as a diving peregrine - with the maneuverability of a normal runner.  This is seriously tiring due to the combination of air resistance and the sprinting itself, and will demand fatigue rolls after more than a couple turns.
    The two things that interfere with this speed potential are load and cold.  Carrying bulky gear makes sprinting difficult, and heavy items slow acceleration.  Cold also cuts her speed - once it hits 40°f, she starts losing both max speed and cruising speed.  At 0°f, 60 mph is her sprint.
    Such speed does have the potential for INSANE LEAPING, but it can end very. Very.  Badly.))
    Weaknesses:
    Slick surfaces - Despite modified footwear, excessively slippery surfaces would prove to be her downfall, quite literally. Winter training has lead to plenty a skidding crash, though none of the results have been particularly tragic.  ((Falling down at 175 mph sucks ass.  Try not to lose control on pavement - dying from your own power is never glamourous.))
    Cold - Any temperature significantly below freezing is enough to put a little rust in her joints, so to say. ((See above))
    Mundane abilities:
    Social butterfly -  Maybe it's lilting laugh or perhaps it's the glint in her eye, but people want to talk to Lila. She is well-liked among associates, and she finds that she can always make friends in a crowd of former strangers. Because of her social well-roundedness, she has had to become quite good at planning gatherings and organizing complicated events. ((+2 to social reactions, +1 to Party Planning))
    History:
    Born into probably one of the biggest Families of all, little Lila was spoiled rotten. Her mother, Lan, was the woman-behind-the-man of the leader of a notorious organized crime syndicate which in turn, made all of the men in the gang her uncles of a sort. She was the little princess and all of her uncles made sure to take good care of her (or face the wrath of the Boss). However, one thing led to another in the syndicate and a bloody coup led in the kind disownment of Lila and her mother from the gang during her preteen years.
    They were allowed to stay in the city, but things seemed desolate for a while. By some strange "miracle", Lan soon got the family back on their feet, and Lila knew better than to ask questions. They wound up with an apartment and Lan working a tech repair job (though Lila had no idea when she got savvy in that subject). While the apartment was far from the mansion of attentive uncles she was used to, Lila settled in admirably, making friends at the public high school she now attended.
    Late into her sophomore year, Lila's powers manifested. Whenever she tried to consciously do something with haste, she wound up over-doing it. After a few trial-and-error tests with what she could and could not do, she started training independently during the night at the small track behind the school. Setting up increasingly more complicated obstacle courses, she trained herself so she could dexterously control her body at these ridiculously high speeds. Needless to say, she ate a fair amount of dirt and gravel starting out, but slowly gained a nimbleness to her lightning-fast movement.
    Lila spent so much energy keeping her new powers a secret from her Maskophobic mother that she was sloppy at it in other areas of her life. She often sped up if she was in a hurry to get somewhere and it did not go unnoticed. A member of her former Family had been keeping an eye on her and her mother since they were tossed onto the streets, he abducted her to try and get on the new Boss's good side by presenting him with the gift of a lovely young superhuman to do the bidding of the syndicate. It didn't go over well, and surprisingly started a chain of events leading to another intrasyndicate war. Lila backed out of the whole deal without a scratch, and continued on with her education.
    Throughout the following years she donned costume to play for various sides, not really discriminating between "good" and "evil", but for whatever sounded good at the time. Of course she has to maintain a typical life and she does so with the Master's in Marketing Research she earned when she wasn't working part-time or playing masked crusader. Working for some company that she doesn't even know, Lila is paid to be a people-person, professional style. It works for her, but it's never been enough for her to quit her night job.
    Stuff:
    Loft-style apartment with all her crap
    Up-with-the-times laptop
    Cell phone thing
    Purse with necessary feminine items of a womanly nature
    Some moneys
    Bonuses:
    +2 dodge (+1 cramped)
    +2 social
    +1 Party Planner
    ((I can always count on Dan to deliver something unusual))
    RAK
    The exiled Prince Anuj Arjuna Asura aka the rakshasa-general Raktabija of Ravana
    “Though my country has been bled and sucked dry by you, America, modern capitalistic Kali,
     Raktabija will rise again!”
    Age 35
    Sex Male
    Height: 6’4”
    Nationality/Ethnicity/Religion: the late United Arab Emirate of __/Pakistani/Moslem
    Appearance –
    Mundane–
    Prince Anuj has worn circles under his eyes from troubled decades of losses. The well-dressed Prince of the late United Emirate (country of origin) believes in Westernization. Therefore outside of his mansion he wears humble but well-made Armani suits. To very formal occasions he wears silk jackets, and he’s rather fond of gray and black.
    Inside his posh mansion, Anuj is more fond of robes and more traditional garb, though he keeps his antique gold chain and watch on him at all times. The Prince keeps his Western-hair cut trim, and his goatee and moustache perfectly groomed at all times.
    Costumed –
    The demon general’s face-mask covers all but his eyes and mouth, coating the back of his neck. The mask is a hard ebony helm thicketed with a thick wire wig of red hair that falls down his back and around his mouth and under his nose like a thick beard. Two half-foot long segmented gray horns rise from either side of his brow.
    The demon general’s spandex costume is a blazing patriotic red and black, his chest emblazoned with the tusked and horned visage present on the late flag of (country of origin). This visage is made of hardened titanium and backed with Kevlar. A bejeweled bandolier holds a diamond-edged scimitar at his waist, but also has straps to hold arms and legs on his back. His arms and legs are bare, revealing an acrobat’s physique.
    Superpower –
    NEW accessories for your demon general virtua-doll… “Twist and Snap Limbs!”
    ‘Lobster’ Limbs –
       All of Raktabija’s limbs, including his head, are rather easy to pull off (60 kg pressure), and even easier (30 kg pressure) if one twists and pulls at the same time, like opening a bottle cap. The bones and muscles are aligned in such a way that they simply snap at these points upon such stress. The arteries cinch up immediately where the torso meets the arm, head, or leg, and on the other side, arteries rerout blood and keep disconnected limbs alive for short periods of time (an hour if under constant activity, longer if not). Rak is capable of flexing and twisting a single limb and detaching it without help of another limb. Such limbs cannot be reattached.
    Raktabija has mental control of detached limbs and receives sensory information from them within a 600 foot range. After 300 feet he begins to have trouble seeing what they’re doing, without his binoculars, and his ‘signal’ begins to become distorted. Certain materials block his mental signal to and from his limbs, such as those that block radiation. Raktabija is incapable of mentally controlling more than one set of extra limbs at a time, though he can quickly replace destroyed detached limbs, with a new set of limbs.
    Rak is very skilled with detached limbs, considering the difficulty of using detached limbs. Legs can hop forward, and trip criminals. Arms are capable of rapid crawling by the hand, meaning they can dodge fire, and still maintain a solid grip with a clenched fist. They may at times only be a nuisance, but with a running start they can throw a punch. They can perform complicated activities as long as Rak can see them (tying shoes, pulling triggers, typing buttons). From ground level they’re capable of leaping two feet up or three feet forward, just from sitting position, with a long running start they can almost double that in horizontal movement, but not in vertical ascension.  ((Precise bonuses and penalties depend on the limb, the accompanying organs, and the task undertaken.  Removed limbs last for about fifteen minutes, after which they lose functionality and quickly decay.
    Limbs can also be removed against his will.  He also has -2 to climbing, as putting his full body weight on one limb could cause problems.))
    Limb Regeneration (Quick)
    Limbs and head regrow quickly if taken from the ‘break’ spot. Bone tissue extends out rapidly, followed by muscle tissue, followed by arterial and vein tissue, followed by nerve extensions (eyes, inner ear). Limbs are usable as soon as muscle tissue has pronounced itself. This process is always painful, and is not instantaneous.
    Tissue Regeneration (Slow) –
    A detached eye, ear, nose, and even tongue will continue to send information back to Raktabija’s brain until it dies. Such missing sensory organs regrow after a time double the length of the normal lifespan of detached tissues.
    ((A properly-removed limb will regrow in 3d10 turns; 2d10 if he has nothing to do but lie there and heal (due to the complexity of sensory organs, his head takes 6d10/4d10).  Halfway through he'll have a limb usable at -2 (as it's not entirely formed and incredibly painful).  While wounds will heal, he still has to worry about blood loss, so he's not superregeneratron.  Regeneration hurts - taking off more than one limb will give him penalties of -1 per additional part.  He will also be fucking ravenous after healing.
    THe healing process is fucking gross, as is the removal of limbs - this can cause fear rolls and panic, and also results in horrible social reactions when his head, say, is a lump of hideous tissue.))
    “His brain is in his chest!?”
    Anuj Asura was born with no brain in his skull, only gray spinal fluids and excess nose mucous. His spinal cord curves down from the first vertebra of his neck and has grown down into his chest cavity near his esophagus and trachea. His brain encases his beating heart, making room for aorta and lungs. His eyes are attached to his spinal cord through the empty spinal fluid. His bone spine still has muscle and can turn his head regularly.  ((I... whoa.  Only real effect of this is that head-shots don't matter to him, while chest shots are that much more deadly.))
    Advantages –
    Being a prince of a rich foreign government, however short-lived, has had its perks.
    These skills are only second-rate, but Rak tries to make them count.
    High Budget Apprenticeship in the United Arab Emirate of  (country of origin)
       Archery, Elephant Riding, Camel and Horse-back riding (polo), Fencing, Falconry, Gymnastics, Race-car Driving, Airplane Flying (small propjet), Sailing, Rock-climbing, Skiing, Bungee Jumping, Skydiving, Oil Refinery Business, Chess, Wei Chi (Goh).
    Ivy League Schooling  at Princeton–
       Chemistry/Neurobiology – Isn’t an idiot with the first (unlike the player), knows the basics of making simple chemicals, and knows a lot more than rudimentary about the second, given his condition.
       English – is well-versed in literature.
       Business/Economics – Tried to save (country of origin) oil. Due to monopoly competition, is failing again in America. He is considering the stock market, but isn’t much of a gambler.
       Martial Arts - Karate/Hapkido/Kendo (knows rudimentary bo staff, nunchaku, sai)
          Potentially very skilled at blind-fighting, one-armed, and no-armed defenses.
       Violin (family owned a Stradivarius, but his wife took it and sold it).
    ((The Demon-General has +2 to any non-combat skill that a) nobody else in the party knows and b) seems kind of useless.
    He does not get combat penalties for missing arms, can fence competantly with no legs, and gets a lesser penalty for fighting blind.  When he's actually intact or missing nor more than one arm, he has +1 in combat.))
    Wealth
       Although Mr. Asura has nearly lost all shares to his prosthetic and pharmaceutical company, and his income is extremely low for ex-royalty, he has enough to keep up the bare essentials of his appearance. He no longer has enough to donate to charity, but he tries to make some of his products easier for the American military and a few hospitals and clinics of his choice to use. His equipment can’t easily be replaced by his current money, and what he pays for childcare takes away most of his personal spending money. Nonetheless he can take his few friends out to a few expensive dinners.
    ((Cha-ching!  While not one of the Truly Wealthy, he has enough cash and enough flash to move with the crowd.  +1 Social; on the downside, he will be noticed (and probably watched) when he is not incognito.))
    Disadvantages –
    His rapid tissue regrowth is not fast enough to save Raktabija from horrible wounds to his torso. Although he can detach maimed limbs and head, he can’t detach mangled stomach organs, and direct hits to his chest cavity that pierce the Kevlar he holds dear will likely kill him.
    Twitches – Due to his nervous system malfunction, Mr. Asura/Raktabija deals with uncontrollable bodily twitches similar to those experiencing Parkinson’s. Although he can suppress them for short periods of time with concentration, they can dispel a sense of calm in even those who know him well, and are irritating to those he has just met. Without his painkillers, they grow into seizures. They can make his life of crime-fighting difficult, if at times impossible.
    Chronic Pain – Due to his profound scoliosis, without his expensive painkillers, Mr Asura/Raktabija is in a constant state of agonizing pain. He maintains a low level of pain at all times, but without his fix, he can quickly become irritable, unmotivated, or even wracked by writhing seizures that drive him to uncontrollable homicidal actions.
    ((Addicted to painkillers!  12 hours without them gives him -1 to ALL rolls; 24, -2; 48, -3.  After 72 hours without a fix he becomes vulnerable to severe seizures and erratic and violent behavior.  His legal prescriptions conceal the fact that he has long since surpassed their limits.))
    History
    Anuj Arjuna Asura, third son of Emir Aurangzeb Asura of the then decade old oil Emirate of (country of origin), was born a crippled child. Unable to function without a hospital bed, the Emir of (country of origin) would have in earlier times decided to give up on the freak of nature, but given the potentials of modern technology and the persistence of money, he instead had his best scientists (many from foreign countries) develop the technology needed to bring his child, literally to life. Emir Aurangzeb kept the child a secret to most of the nation for most of his life. The research took seven years and a sizable portion of (country of origin’s) GNP. The child’s body was kept from atrophying in the meanwhile. Upon clever rewiring of his nervous system, the child began to move and function like a normal human being, however late in life. Emir Aurangzeb celebrated and henceforth dedicated a portion of his GNP to the study and support of nervous system surgery and pharmaceutical in addition to the booming business of oil.
    Luckily, increased blood flow to Anuj’s large brain made the child a prodigy for his family, and sped along his development and learning. His debilitative nervous twitches and faulty senses gave him trouble and belittling from his siblings and peers, which he had to overcome, but he did so with flying colors. He excelled in his apprenticeship, and moved onto a myriad number of hobbies and learning from his tutors.
    Soon he had outpaced his older brothers, Lal Lochan and Rohan Mansur, and entered college at Princeton in America at a younger age than most (16). He received outstanding marks, and returned to (country of origin) as the favored heir to the throne (age 20) although still not yet publically announced to the government-controlled media. He brought from college a fiancé, Margot, that Emir Aurangzeb was more than happy to accept, though the rest of the family mistrusted. Babur was born (Anuj age 23), and the family mourned again, unable to cure his particular ailment with the current technology. The young Anuj continued with a spoiled youngster’s life, squandering his father’s wealth, while Lal and Rohan did their best to help an elderly Aurangzeb maximize waning oil supplies and keep the country from imploding.
    (Country of Origin) was a miniscule unstable oil emirate. Not soon after Chandra Gita’s birth (age 25), a tribal civil war broke out in ¬ between the ¬¬(ethnic people) (of which the Asuras were a part of) the minority ruling class and the majority ethnic group of the (ethnic group), who desired to be reunited with their people in (nearby country), and to turn the country over to the Shiites and communism. In the resulting chaos, Aurangzeb and his ministry were assassinated in a well-planned guerrilla raid, but his three sons and their wives survived. The two elder sons vowed vengeance, and continued the battle for two hard years, while the youngest son tried to remain removed from the resulting tragedies, sending his wife and children to America. He was given partial domestic ruling control of the country, which he mostly bungled. At the end of the third year of civil war (Anuj age 28), America provided support to the Asuras and Sunnis, who had been the “sole” victims of genocide by the (ethnicity of origin). In a well-documented power struggle, Lal Lochan Asura’s forces annihilated Rohan Mansur Asura and his royal guard, and Lal assumed the throne not soon afterwards. Anuj Arjuna Asura fled the country quickly afterwards.
    After Prince Anuj’s exodus, not documented by a media largely ignorant of his existence, the war turned in King Lal’s favor for a short time, and then (country of origin) oil supplies in the country ran out entirely. America’s military and media then consequently switched sides to the (ethnicity of origin), who had been persecuted and oppressed by the tyrannical ruling elite of the Asuras, and the Sunni forces were quickly wiped out by nerve-gas and dirty bombs. King Lal Lochan was captured by a super named the Human Bomb and put through a kangaroo-court on counts of genocidal massacre, and executed the following year (Anuj age 29).
    Prince Anuj’s exodus was profound in shaping his future goals, and he soon realized a profound love of America and a desire to bring a new start to his family of six, and his father’s prosthetic and pharmaceutical business, which could be of great help to people everywhere.
    Nonetheless the neglected business began to fall apart in his hands. Ruthless competition may be an excuse; he has sold many shares to his rivals. A desire to keep the business running and post-traumatic stress from (country of origin) left him in a chaotic mental state, further intensified by his chronic illness. Anuj was soon divorced from Margot (Anuj age 33) and she took the four children under her own care. Babur (currently age 12) is prone to bouts of immense and unconscious superhuman strength when he cyclically comes out of his catatonic state, Chandra Gita (age 10) is blind, Kumar is autistic (age 7), and Karishma (age 6) which means “miracle,” is of the largest part normal, though she has an amputated leg and is lame in the other.  Child support is massively expensive, but Anuj Arjuna has tried to make life for his children and divorced wife as livable as possible, despite his failing business.
    Part of this ‘post-traumatic’ stress came from repeated attempts of both sabotage by his business rivals and assassinations hired by the current Shiite ruling family to stamp out the last remnants of Asura royal family line in the few years after his exile. An attempt on his life maimed his youngest daughter Karishma, who now lives in constant pain (shrapnel lodged near her spinal cord), but American law enforcement was too weak to find and imprison the hitmen responsible.
    Filled with an inescapable feeling of impotence regarding his country and his status, and an anger ignited by his daughter’s injury and the threat to his family, Prince Anuj Arjuna Asura decided to take the law into his own hands, and become a vigilante. He told his victims that he was the rakshasa-general “Raktabija of Ravana,” which found its way into the paper. He hunted down his would-be assassins and their American mob syndicates and either arrested or did them in as thoroughly as possible. Rak found his vigilante crime spree spreading to nearby cities, following crime-lords that had nothing to do with threats to his personal well-being. Many are still at large, but he’s made it known Mr. Asura is not to be trifled with. Unfortunately, as his success unfolded in both vengeance and self-defense, his masked civilian mind unraveled, and things became too stressful for his wife, who took the children and fled.
    Raktabija has since entered into a cold hibernation, and a depressed and humbled Mr. Asura has since conquered certain demons within himself. Or at least that’s what he thinks. Still a stalwart patriot and believer in the American dream, Mr. Asura knows Raktabija will soon rise again to finish the job started three years ago.
    Equipment
       The demon general has had quite a bit of money to throw around.
    - Scimitar
    on bandolier, has the weight of a fencing blade but well-honed.
    - Binocular Visors
       when pressed in a certain way, polarizable telescopic lenses snap into place in front of his eyes, concealed on either side of his helm. He puts these to good use when he knows his eyes might be ID’d, and also to make out what his limbs and targets are doing at great distances.
    - Gas mask
    installed behind right side beard of his mask, with small air supplies running down the back of his suit.
    - Horns
    fluoresce bright red at his audio command.
    - Spandex
    covering his torso is mildly fire-retardant.
    - Kevlar
    in his visage, protects only his chest (heart and brain) from the front and back.
    - Throwing blades (2)
    concealed in the sides of his boot sandals
    - Portable Folding Bow
    stored along back of utility belt. A decent bo staff in a pinch.
    - Shief:
    on belt, 15 arrows – (4): crescent blade, whistling, flare, small explosive charge.
    - Bungee Utility Cord, 30 feet long, can be pulled from bandolier
    - Demon Blood Decanter
    on belt, in a concussion proof, acid-proof metal vial, holds a potent red oxidizer that Raktabija uses to melt small holes in security panels, locks, doors, where other means are impossible.
    -Eye-holding Bracelet
       on belt, Raktabija can strap a bracelet to a wrist… this aluminum ring has a durable saline-filled plastic container for a detached eye, and allows a single arm to move if guided by an eye in the container (still within range of brain).  ((This is the single strangest item I have ever seen a player equip themselves with.  Congratulations.))
    - Painkillers, lots of anaesthetics:
    in vials for syringes on bandolier and belt. These anaesthetics are more localized, and keep Raktabija from going into shock. The painkillers are fantastically strong, and one could say Mr. Asura needs these to bear a normal existence as well.
     - Mansion – one expensive SUV, which he never uses on the prowl, a camel, an old family falcon, an indoor pool, personal gymnasium. A sizable library, though the Interwebs provide more information. He keeps a good digital video camera, a sizable non-portable computer, and has two servants that wait on him at home, but he hasn’t needed to use them for his crime-fighting.
    Connections with other characters -
    Has attended Absolution’s church services several times, and has made donations to their charitable functions. Though not Christian, Mr. Asura would like to call himself an ‘open-minded’ American, and he has visited a number of different religious institutions.
    Has directly funded Jean Lovell aka Vision’s clinic for blind children through charitable donations, and has spoken directly to Lovell, as Mr. Asura. His elder daughter Gita is at the clinic often, and is fond of Lovell.
    He buys flowers from Sara Anders (aka ‘the Queen of Spades’) flower shop weekly to send to Margot and his children.
    Bonuses:
    +1 combat
    +1 social
    +2 to anything unique and seemingly useless
    Not here anymore.
    Name:Markus Wiltwythe, aka Circuit-breaker
    Age:  19
    Sex:   male
    Height:  5'8”
    Nationality:  A bit of German and English... old, rich money.
    Appearance:   Circuit-breaker commonly wears jeans and comfortable shirts, whether polo or plain, topped with grunge-style overshirts.  His sneakers are pretty well-worn, and chosen more for comfort than style.  Fashion isn't his thing, thought he'll dress up if he has to.  As a result of his somewhat random life schedule, his clothes often looks slept in(and generally are).  His constant accessory is a messenger bag that holds a couple of sketchbooks and a few random pocketbooks.  His ears are hidden underneath a pair of state-of-the-art headphones, and he's always listening to his mp3 player of choice.
    A few years ago he saw a classic flick called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and liked Casey Jones so much that he's adopted the ubiquitious mark of serial killers and horror flick villains everywhere, the hockey mask, as his “costume”.  Of course, he's kicked it up a notch and spray-painted a circuit-board motif onto the mask to distinguish himself from the masses.  The rest of his clothing changes hardly at all, except when he remembers to don the darkish-red trenchcoat he wears in winter.
    Superpower:   Circuit-breaker can control machines and electronics.  A very useful ability, especially for doing things such as turning on coffee machines from bed, controlling the mp3 player, and making sure you've always got a green light.  This also extends to items such as computers(and networks), electronic locks, refrigerators, etc.  His power is only limited by his imagination, and.....
    Superweakness:  ...the fact that the larger the item he's trying to control, the more he needs to focus solely on that task.  Flipping a computer/radio/etc on/off is doable while walking down the street.  Turning down the temperature in a building's ac unit requires means no moving at all and a good few minutes of concentration.  Running a computer security network renders him into a state similar to semi-consciousness.
    Also, the more mechanical a device is, as opposed to electronic, the more trouble he will have with it.  Things with lots of circuit boards are easy.
    ((Controlling a simple device's basic functions is pretty much automatic with concentration.  For more complex/mechanical devices or for extremely precise manipulations, a roll is required: +2 base, with mounting penalties as things get more difficult.  Retrys are possible, but each takes additional time and an additional penalty.  Computers take lots of concentration, because of the complexity of the circuits and the precision of manipulations.
    When controlling devices he has great combat penalties, ranging to full unconciousness for the hardest tasks.  Yes - if he's doing something difficult enough he will literally topple over.  More commonly you'll find him standing there staring, glassy eyed.  With great power comes great chances to be kicked in the face.))
    Superpower Corollary: Circuit-breaker has a low sense for the technology around him that allows him to almost instinctually, with a few moments of focus, pick out the ghost traces(as he calls them) of indigent electrics near him.
    Weakness Corollary:  Occasionally, if he's not paying attention, the ghost traces will overwhelm him and cause something akin to a panic attack due to all the conflicting signals he is receiving from all his surroundings.
    ((Concentrating can find circuits around him, with a roll for level of detail; situations with stress and a large number of circuits can call for a roll to keep calm))
    History:  Markus grew up as the son of a rich marketing executive.  As such, he was groomed from an early age to be a go-getter.  All the best schools, the best clothes, the newest toys.  None of which replaced his parents, who were often away on business trips and vacations, leaving him alone in their 30-room mansion, watched only by the staff.  No wonder he often grew depressive.  He found music and computers in his teens, and applied his intellect(quite high, actually) to learning the ropes.  His mother's brother took pity on him and gifted him with several books on computer securities and hacking, and it was this which unlocked Circuit-breaker's latent powers.  The uncle convinced him to stay unregistered, revealing his own secret identity, that of Splash! Though he aced his ACT and got accepted to several very good schools, he chose to just “take it easy for a while”.  His father, always understanding and supporting(“nurturing”, they'd call it...), gives him a rather generous allowance each month which pays rent on a comfy apartment. Circuit-breaker also makes a nice sum on freelance network security consulting.  Over the past few years he has watched his uncle degenerate into an abusive, downbeaten alchoholic, and mourns the loss of Splash.  However, family is family... and Circuit-breaker often finds a way to slip a little of his father's money into his uncle's hands, along with generous donations of food and occasionally clothing.
    Equipment: A laptop, mp3 player, various electronics, a handgun(he's taken up target practice “just in case”)
    ((Markus also has access to a large amount of legal funds, which is a potent advantage in this day and age.  Corollary: use of credit cards may be monitored.  Careful, or they'll trace it back to you and your parents.))
    Bonuses:
    +2 Power Activation
    +2 Music Knowledge
    +1 Network Security
    -2 Street survival
    You are Too my Monkey
    Name: Evan Mallory
    Alias: luxinquisitor4767
    Age: 19
    Sex: Male
    Height: 5'10"
    Nationality/Ethnicity/Religion: American/White/Internet Porn
    Appearance: Evan is scrawny and generally awkward-looking. He has a mop of oily blonde hair slowly trying to devour his face. He's been largely spared by the pimple monster though he's yet to be instructed on how to properly use a razor.
    Superpower
    Projection: Evan has the ability to project his mind into his avatar in video games and MMORPG-like GUIs. This allows him all of the benefits of having a direct neural interface (convenience, much faster reaction time, more processing power in general) as well as offering some enhancement to the avatar itself (allowing it more mobility and the ability to act outside of the program's usual parameters.) Projecting requires direct line of sight with his avatar so he can't project his thoughts into a computer without an accommodating GUI.
    ((He can project his mind into an appropriate GUI avatar, and manipulate the hell out of it within the GUI paradigm, with the fluidity of instinct.  All reactions happen at neural speed, which offers one huge advantage: while any normal hacker would find himself outpaced by computing systems and have to rely on his own defensive software, Evan can react, hide, and counter all but the fastest computer systems in real time.  This sort of activity becomes blazingly fast - anyone watching his GUI will have the impression that they're watching a kung-fu movie on fast-forward.  All the information on the computer is easily visible, unless encrypted or truly concealed.
    This power has Interesting Properties that you might discover later.))
    While his mind is projected, his body sits in a vegitative state, staring unintelligently at the computer screen. His body continues to run itself normally, it's just that nobody's home.  ((He remains vaguely aware of his body - stabbing him will get his attention, say - but noticing anything else requires a roll at -3, -4 or worse for subtle stimuli (a man sneaking behind him) and -2 or -1 for incredibly direct stimuli (throwing water on him to wake him up).  A success indicates only that there is something going on, and maybe a vague sense of what, but he can unplug instantly.))
    Getting back into his body requires line of sight as well, so if his body is moved away from the computer screen or the monitor it shut off, he can't get back into his physical body until his body has been placed in front of an active monitor again.  ((In the event of such a disaster, he can generally hide is mind in Dominions of Dominion or some other MMORPG; If he gets killed in-game when separated, bad things can happen.))
    Advantages:
    Hacking: Evan understands the basics of hacking and programming, though he isn't a particularly gifted programmer himself. Instead he relies more on taking hacking scripts that other people write, and then integrating them into his home-grown avatar program. But he does know how to hack, and due to his power, is tremendously good at it. ((+3 to hacking, due to knowhow and the instinctive nature of his control.  Be warned, though - he lacks the raw knowledge base of a more experienced hacker, and may walk right into traps.))
    Internet Friends: Due to the sheer volume of time spent on the internet, interacting with various communities, Evan has amassed a collection of acquaintances around the globe which means he's got a couch to crash on pretty much everywhere in the world, and a contact of some form or another in pretty much every major city.  ((Extensive contacts!  A roll can turn someone up.  Also, being young, his parents are available for money and lodging.  They will probably object to, say, Hivemouth.
    Do NOT get NPCs too wrapped up in this, because I AM a fucker and WILL kill them brutally.))
    Disadvantages:
    No Fighting Ability: While in video games Evan is a combat god, in real life he has no training in fighting what-so-ever and is kinda wimpy in general.  ((-1 to all combat rolls, low base damage, -3 with guns))
    History:
    Three Years Ago:
    "We still aren't sure what happened, Ms. Mallory," the doctor said, standing over Evan's hospital bed.
    "Our best guess is that he had some kind of seizure."
    Evan's mom stared down at him with a mix of relief and concern, and he did his best to look as innocent as possible.
    "We can't find anything neurologically wrong with him, and he's really in pretty good health, though he could stand to get some exercise, to get out in general more. Stims and vitamin supplements can't replace the outside world. His body knows the difference."
    "So you're saying he should cut back on the video games?" his mom asked the doctor.
    "But Mom!" Evan started to protest.
    "Now's not the time, Evan," she cut him off, then waited for the doctor.
    Evan turned and looked back to the television. It had taken him two months to track down where his body was, to get the news to run a story on video game addiction, and to get himself in one of the clips, and a lot of hoping and wishing that the news would be on in his room at the right time, but in the end it had all worked out. He would have to be more careful in the future about when he went diving. From the sounds of things it was going to be a while before he got a chance anyway.
    Links: Went to the same high school as Gayle (the second one, though he only ever really noticed her in passing, uncomfortable as he is with the opposite sex)
    Has crossed paths a number of times with Vision online on various forums and what-not, and is aware of him as a network security administrator not to be fucked with, but they've never had a real conversation.
    Equipment:
    luxinquisitor: A program he's been working on since he was fourteen that serves as his avatar online and in most known MMORPGs. It looks vaguely like a combination between a samurai and an 11th century inquisitor (Kinda like this guy, except more ninja-ey, with an oversized katana and wakizashi at his sides and then various internal cybernetic weaponry as the case is needed. The program has all sorts of hacking scripts and general internet tools integrated into it as well as being legitimately maxed out in all games he could conceivably fit the character into.
    The program includes a modified version of a diagnostic program that creates a video game-like GUI, which allows him to use his power on computers that normally wouldn't have a compatible GUI.
    He has the program loaded on his laptop/PDA, two flash cards, as well as uploaded to a few ftp-equivalents.
    Laptop/PDA thingy: A computer that has its foundation in a model that was state-of-the-art about 2 years ago. It has since been heavily modified by some of his hacker friends who know much more about electronics than him. It's been over-clocked as much as possible and has about every kind of communication port imaginable, as well as a high end (and possibly illegally obtained, he never questioned it) wireless (as in cell phone) adapter.
    ((These are his most important items, because they let him reach Beyond himself.  The GUI is backed up in a few locations.))
    Basement: He still lives with his parents, though he's got a separate door to the basement that doesn't go through the rest of the house. He also pays them rent, which he earns by testing video games.
    ((Evan is from a solidly middle class family, which puts him in the upper bracket of wealth.))
    Car: A beat up, but sturdy old car (the equivalent of a mid-70s Cadillac DeVille) that he bought from his parents and (sort of) maintains by himself. It's been slightly modified to have signal amplifiers for his wireless devices.
    Bonuses:
    +3 hacking
    -1 combat
    -1 attack effect
    -3 guns
    +2 video games and obscure nerdly references
    Evan has the Antero Seal of Superheroic Rockage
