Just a thought. As a kindness to me, would those people who're going to be turning up from the Chicago area please drop me a line before game starts so we can figure out how exactly they would've caught wind of the group? Thanks!

I'll go ahead and approve Galapagos then. Though I don't particularly like that the castes correspond directly to numbers... I don't mind the sub-numbering within them, like, "I am a shaman of the third order" (Shaman 3), "Oh well I am a sergeant of the fifth order, you must obey me" (Sergeant 5).

Though I'm thinking those of equal-ish caste (shaman/sergeant/honored warrior) should mostly leave each other alone as they shouldn't be competing directly with each other...?

It's complicated and boring in so much I've actually graphed it out.

I guess I just don't like actually calling them "Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3". It seems false, like it wouldn't have evolved that way naturally. Ya know?

I'm fine with the "who outranks who" mechanic, especially with your extended chart, I just want it to sound purtier.

I wrote sort of a prologue to Swan's Hart for Igor. I just felt the need. This will likely also be my first post in the actual RP thread.

Some people may wonder how I'd shoehorn a lizard from Boston into a Chicago game using an established storyline.

Such creativity pregame, it is getting me even more pumped. :)

Just thought I would throw this out there too, right now I'm thinking of starting somewhen about the second week of June. This may be subject to change depending on a number of factors.

That would be perfect for me, since it's just after LARP season ends.

Hello and welcome, Quetippe. :)

Right now we're still in the gearing up phase of things so getting started is pretty simple, though I'll throw out a few questions so that I might better be able to help you. Have you read over the info posts so far? Is there anything specifically there that you have a question on? If all that's pretty clear, all you really need to do is dream someone up and post them to the thread following the format here. The OOG thread from The Wolf Princess has some good discussion about character generation too, you can find that here. There's a lot of the same setting info there too. Once you've posted your character it's in limbo for a bit, Zahnnie approves characters and she's out for the weekend, but she'll respond in here when she gets back if you need to tweak anything or to let you know that the character is good to go.

This helpful to you? Anything specifically that you're not understanding? I'll be around all morning if you've more questions, after that I'll respond to things as I can.

So far we've all been posting our sheets...if there's an issue with anything in the sheet, the GMs will let you know in this thread, but you generally shouldn't have a problem- they seem to err towards accomodation rather than otherwise.

As for linking, I don't think it has to be anything incredibly substantial...mine certainly isn't.  Perhaps you've been called in to help solve the central conflict as a favor, maybe you heard about it on the grapevine and have a vested interest in seeing the conflict not come to fruition, or maybe you have some other reason altogether.

Bottom line is: if you follow what guidelines are laid out and nothing else, you should be fine.

GMs, totally correct me if I'm wrong anywhere.

Name:Caeldus
Race: human witch (wizard?)
Level: 1
Appearance: male, stands a shade under 6', pale skin, glasses, blonde hair, small scar on his chin

Personality: tends to be quiet most of the time, observing others, working strategy and solutions while others talk. highly intellignet, but sometimes lacking in common sense

Powers
cantrips-various illusions designed to trick the senses

fire and ice - able to add or remove the heat from various objects, effects can range from raising  the temperature of the surrounding air to forming ice crystals or gout of flame

arcane lore - a vast knowledge from years of study, able to identify magical beings and effects, as well as the use of magical circles for utility puropses (summoning, protection, etc..)

Weaknesses
nerd - physically weak, any kind of melee combat would leave him at a disadvantage

spell book - a shaky memory requires a bit of poking around in a book, especially so for some of the more powerful and useful spells

History- having his nose stuffed into books from a relatavely early age has its perks, as well as its drawbacks.  delving deeper into esoteric books, and confining himself to archives and more often than not his basement, he began experimenting with various rituals and spells.  as practice makes perfect; as soon as he found that it was possible to manipulate the world around him, he devoted himself to controlling and focusing the energy that flowed through him.  refining his skill where possible, more often than not through hours of practice

Approval: Good to go!

Mach, as far as I've ever interpreted things, you've got it right on.

Quetippe, as Mach said, linking up with the group doesn't have to be terribly convoluted. Some of the characters are strongly tied together by links forged from the previous game, but then there are others like Shofranka and Galapagos who're around for as simple a reason as "They owed someone a favor." If you want to establish some sort of backstory with another player, contact them and hammer something out. If you want it to be something as simple as what Mach has going for his character, that's fine too (though if you decide to go with this one, shoot me a PM so I can get you the relevant information).

I like your character Quetippe. He's pretty much the classic magic user, big on powerful magic but just don't let anything touch him.

The format here is a little different but if you stick with it you'll get used to it quickly enough. Like Static said, just PM someone if you want to work out an established connection to the group. I'm sure any established player here would be glad to work something out. I'm willing too as well, but I think as a witch you're more likely to be a contact of Marra's. Don't let me tell you how to set up your character though if you have a better idea.

Welcome to zeta. I think you'll enjoy yourself here.

i was turned on to this from Colesla, figured I'd post up. let me know what you think.

Name: Jonas McNamara

Race: Unseleigh Fae, disguised as human.

Level: 1

Appearance: Hair the color of dirty ink hides the sharp features and brown eyes of his human form.  A slight build, Muscle of ripcord straining his skin but not the bulging sinew of the powerful.  Loose clothing hangs from the frame, rich earthtones giving an almost a gypsy look. A marionette, cut from it strings and left to its own mischief.

Personality: A trickster in the old coyote sense, at ease in his own failures.  In love/lust with the pale queen, would pull the world apart brick by brick  at her slightest whim, though she probably doesn’t know he exists.  He doesn’t mind.  The world is only important as long as it’s interesting.

Powers

Murphy’s scion – If things can go wrong around him, they will.  Usually catastrophically.

Thick –skinned teeth - No matter how bad things get, Jonas generally survives, more or less.  Though usually in terrible repair.

tooth and nail
– can fight with his natural weapons

Weaknesses
cold iron – touching cold iron is painful to Jonas.

exiled from the Faerie – due to his powers, the fae don’t want him around.  Nothing official, but it’s been made clear that he should stay on the mortal side of the line.

History
Born in the twisted and strange place where Chicago meat the Faerie, Jonas is as warped as where he came from.  No one is sure who his parents are, but it’s presumed to be minor powers as he is nothing special.  When the Unseleigh finally got sick of the world going screwy around them, Jonas fled to the mortal city because it felt like home.

He wears glove to protect himself, but stays in the constructs of iron because they help contain his powers.  He makes his money off Fae that pay him to be around and screw things up.

Approved: A-Ok!
