QT PL8S
« on: June 07, 2011, 07:40:39 PM »
So, I dunno about the rest of you, but I get bored as hell when I'm driving and one of the only pieces of data that changes reliably even on the same route are the license plates of the cars around me.

What're some cute, clever, or otherwise amusing license plates you've seen on the road? Photos not required; taking a cell-phone shot while driving is a BAD idea.

Some I've seen:
"GEEK" (yes, I actually saw this one!)
"MUGGLE"
"ABYNRML" (ah, Young Frankenstein!)
"MAXWELL" (on, of course, a Fortwo)
"PI R SQ"

I never personally saw this one on the road, but I think it pretty much wins.

I've seen LINUX and EXQQQME.  Anybody remember the custom plate Hal got?  It was NERD or GEEK or something like that.

Heh, on the same note of using the license plate's "normal" features as part of the plate...

The UW has custom plates around here with a big [W] to the left of the license plate number.

A WSU-supporter I saw once had a UW plate, with the letters "ANKERS" as his custom plate. XD

I'm tempted to post the infamous Florida plate, but it is a bit vulgar and frankly too obvious a joke for me.

Saw this one a while back in Portland, Oregon.  It's a black car with a license plate frame saying "The Black Pearl" and had several pirate stickers on the rear windows that aren't as visible in this pic.

Hee!  This almost calls for a terrible pirates pun/joke thread

What does a pirate does a pirate drive on his day off? A CARRRRR!

Why are pirates so feared?  Their weapons of mast destruction!

I took these all over the past few days, just for this thread.  I've seem more custom plates in Virginia than other states, maybe they have some sort of deal?  The first one was just unusual, any idea where it's from?  And the tiny one was a bit too far ahead of me to snap a clear picture, but it says "I'MLITLE".

TIP and I saw one yesterday that said "I (heart) Lego"  I tried to get a picture but they were going faster than us.

I was once driving behind a Prosche Spyder.
The plate read: SPDRMAN

I lulzed.

haha, that reminds me. :yeah: Once, while driving around on MS campus, I noticed a VW Beetle with a license plate reading, of course, "FEATURE".

When I was a young lad, I saw a plate that said KUNTZ.

At the time, I had never heard of anyone with that or a similar name, so I spent DAYS telling my friends and wondering how they had got that one past the authorities.

It's a license plate for the US Armed Forces in Germany. Specifically, it's an export plate, used to export a car from Germany to another country.

I've been taking pictures of custom plates whenever I can, and want to start a Tumblr just for that.  Because Atlanta sure has a ton of them.

One of the best I've ever seen was on a black SUV that passed us on 400 and switches lanes too quickly to grab a pic, but the plate said PHALANX.  So I think that guy wins the competition hands down no contest.  Because how can you honestly top a PHALANX license plate?
