There. I replaced the collapse/expand graphics in the sidebar, the RSS logo in the news box on the main board index, and I made new "Your Ad Here" graphics for the ads, to make them less disruptive to the look of the site when there's no ad in one or more of the boxes.

Oh yeah, and I shuffled the positioning of the ads, and added a fourth.

Anyone who reads this, you may want to hold shift and click the refresh button on the board index to see the changes. Or, you could just dump your cache entirely. It's a mess in there, you should clean more often.

The fourth ad box doesn't resize when the screen's not full size.  Everything else seems to, but I have three ads and a "Your ad he".

Not a big deal, just a thing.

I ADORE being able to collapse the active thread list. That is massively helpful with kidlets or coworkers in the room. Hooray!

Not digging the 4 ads across the top though...

Who ever owns that first Ad spot is getting a lot of accidental click-throughs from me today.....
I swear that ad is right where the Zeta logo used to sit....which is was I click to go back to the main page when I'm done reading a forum.

The Go to Forum box is still driving me kinda crazy too. Is there any way for it to by default display the forum the thread is in like it used to? Maybe I'm crazy but I thought it used to do that and had a little go button next to it. I've been trying to use the thread path on the left side (same line as number of pages) and just click the parent forum...I used to have a no-reading just know where to click to get where I wanted method before. ..it's just really awkward seeming now.

Am I the only one who browses this way? If not I guess I'll adapt eventually.


Quick reply I love, just because of the text elements on the left. Very slick. I don't usually use smilies, so those don't really matter to me one way or the other. I do however wish the preview, post and spell check buttons were closer to centered. Far right seems awkward.....maybe because my cursor isn't already over there using smilies. *laugh*

There are people like, say, me or Lorelei, who don't use the Active Threads display and like to remove it from the side bar. Those buttons allow us to do just that.

Hm. Prior to the redesign, things like user profiles kept pretty constant dimensions...no matter the dimensions of the window.. Now they go all stretchy. Which is really awkward on a widescreen monitor.

There. That should do it.

The sidebar can now be collapsed entirely, using the collapse/expand widget at the top right of every page, to the right of the search box. The preference is saved both in your cookie and your zCh preferences in the database (I think), so it should prove useful to those who don't like the sidebar.

There's one small bug I'll be working on: When you first make the sidebar visible after loading a page where it's not, it's too narrow by far. It un-fucks itself after you load the next page, but it's still annoying.

Edit: Well, that bug died really godsrotted fast. Just had to make the JavaScript that makes it visible set the width and padding, too. No big.

Anyway, sidebar haters rejoice.

Okay, Opera users. In a moment of inspiration, I've come up with a solution to your quick reply woes. It involves installing a chunk of JavaScript into your browser, which fixes the problem. It doesn't do anything else.

Step one: Go to Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Content > JavaScript options, and select the directory in which you wish to store the script.

Step two: Take the script below, save it to a file called "zCh-QuickReply-fix.js" in the directory you selected in step one.

Step three: Refresh the page, and the quick reply should work for you.

What this does is, takes the width of the window, subtracts the width of everything but the textarea in the quick reply, and applies the difference as a static width for said textarea.
