I downloaded the trailer for this game on my PS3.  I saw the first shot of the character models and couldn't help but laugh.

This footage, here, is completely different, but I'm still laughing.

Seriously.  What the fuck?  The models look last-gen, and the movements are still stiff and awkward.  This needs a serious overhaul.  I just don't get it.  I don't.  How can a game like Street Fighter IV look so completely bloody fucking awesome and gorgeous, and yet this game, which has some of its roots in the flowing lines of comic books, looks horribly awkward.

And, by the way, I do not accept "It's MK, it's always been like that" as a suitable excuse.  My co-worker said it, and all I did was shake my head.  Evolve, damn it!  MK could be cool, but if its looks and movements are still being drawn from back when it was fucking digitized, then something needs to be done.

Me?  I'm eagerly awaiting SFIV.  This?  I'll play it through base curiosity, but, to me, it looks like ass.  High-res ass, of course, but when it's high res, then you can see every last bit of shit that they missed on the last wipe.

not totally keen in SFIV and I'll tell you why.

Even though, yes, Street Fighter has been guilty of the typical Fighter Game fare (For those of you not in the know, Once an established Fighting game is a success, the developers will make sequels upon sequels upon sequels using primarily the same cast with two new characters in each installment), that's usually when they stayed in the same "time period" if you were. I'm counting time periods as Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter III... there were many updates for each.

But each installment had it's own cast for the most part. Save for Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li, the cast is different for every time period. That makes SFIV, with its "return to its roots", feel like the umpteenth update to Street Fighter II. All it's doing is bringing back the Street Fighter II cast, and even some stages, and adding.. what, three new characters?

Feels like a huge step back. A sell out instead of innovation, regardless of however they tweaked SF III's mechanics and said it's new and improved.

Oh.

Huh.  I thought it was gonna be for Starcraft 2, though the models were a bit confusing and didn't make exact sense to me.  Makes more sense now.

So what kind of game is it going to be?  FPS?  RTS?  RPG?  BBQ?  WTF?  LOL?

Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 2 is pure RTS bliss. People call it a Warcraft rip off when in truth, Warhammer's been around since 1986 and the earliest installment of anything Warcraft related is 1994 (Warcraft: Orcs vs Humans)

Warhammer 40K Dawn of War has been my RTS fix for quite some time. It's really slated towards combat, since you don't have villagers mining for Gold or Vespene Gas. That big thing you saw smacking the Force Sergeant (dude without a helmet) is the biggest update to the series, the Tyranids.

I'm so giddy, it's unbelievable.

Ack. Tanya is a blonde? I will not stand for this!

Also, I can't be excited for any other RTS with Dawn of War II on the way. After playing that, Command and Conquer 3 just felt....archaic. Units standing in a blob firing back and forth until they explode? Bah! If a mech isn't picking up orcs and throwing them across the map, I don't want to see it.
