Well, considering that the very first Guitar Hero-esque game WAS entirely driven by Aerosmith... that's pretty interesting news.

Slack.

Didn't Aerosmith have an arcade shooter game too at one point?

Hopefully this will be an encore in the game at some point.

They're releasing a regular Guitar Hero 4 as well, they're probably just testing the market of a one-band driven game to see how it sells.

I know that if it was Motley Crue or something like that, I would pick it up in an instant.  I probably won't buy this though.

In other news I beat Raining Blood with 5 stars on hard which means I've completed all hard and medium songs with 5 star ratings, thus unlocking a new guitar!

I think the Aerosmith one might actually be worth buying.  I like a lot of their earlier stuff, I think.  I mean I didn't even realize "Dream On" was Aerosmith.  I'd always thought it was some other classic rock band.  If they manage to have a lot of the influential classic rock and blues stuff in there it might be worth a buy.  I'll have to see the track list before I make my final judgment, though.

That's interesting timing. I remember hearing something about Aerosmith getting out of their record contract recently.

Beat Tom Morello on expert this morning. I've been stuck at that for ages. Still can't do Raining Blood on hard, though.

FLAWLESS VICTORY.

My first perfect. Radio Song on hard. 154,114 points.

edit: ARSE. Got through the epic solo on hard Dragonforce for the first time. Then messed up a relatively easy bit. I WILL WIN THIS SONG.

Current status: stuck on Raining Blood on hard and Slash on expert.

There are only three songs in the standard setlist that I've not hit a 5-star rating in expert mode: Before I Forget (***), Bloody Rain (****) and One (****).  I think I can get a 5-star rating on One without too much difficulty... I was surprised how easily I went through Bloody Rain when I gave it a random go in Quick Play but Before I Forget has a very weird part at the end that I just can't get used to doing.  I can pass the song, of course, but I can't pass it well towards the end.  BLIMEY

I just realized that my mind wasn't working properly when I made that post: "Bloody Rain?"  I don't think so!  "Raining Blood"--but I hate the song so I have no reason to call it by its proper name.  I'm giving myself a full pass on this one!

I still don't see how anybody could possibly do Dragonforce on Expert... I tried it on practice on the slowest mode and while I can see what you're supposed to do, having that whale at the start of the song so that your bar is already at half and you have no star power is ridiculous.  I don't think I'll ever beat it and I'll only try when I want to amuse/hurt myself.

I've got Inhuman Rampage playing right now. Somehow the first track sounds a little wrong. There's something missing. Percussion. There's supposed to be a continuous very rapid clicking noise from start to finish...

I played Impulse from the bonus tracks last night for the first time.  Enjoyable.  I like how they don't even bother to have the singer character on stage for it.

Captain

I went to a relative's house today for Easter, the same place where I first played Guitar Hero during Christmas... they wanted me to play and show them how it was done since they knew I'd beaten the game on Expert.  That went well enough... but that's not why I'm making a post.

They have the Xbox 360 and while I knew there were downloads for the game, I didn't realize that there was anything I'd be interested in.  Specifically there was the full songs for Slash, Tom Morello and Devil Went Down to Georgia to play where you'd do both sides instead of just one or the other.  Whenever I'm doing a guitar battle on my Wii in career mode, I will press the buttons for their part in the opening while I'm waiting for my turn so it was cool to be able to do both.

My first try failed on all but my second tries were successful for both Slash and Tom Morello on Expert mode... the final part was the tricky thing in both.  For Devil Went Down to Georgia... forget about it, I'd try to conserve my star power and instead just flop out around 30%.  I made it to around 73% on Hard... I was sure I could go all the way.  Oh well.  Makes me wish I had the Xbox 360 version instead.

When they release the stereo version for Wii they're talking about having downloadable content as well.  It's not certain, but it's at least a possibility.

Also, FWIW, they have the stand-alone guitars available now for the Wii for those who want to get multiplayer action going.

Banana hammock.

I like getting five stars the first time I play things. Like Tenacious D's "The Metal" on both Easy and Medium.

Mmm, and victory in battle is so sweet.  Especially against Morello, who appeared impossible at first.

Also last night I learned that the shiny things are for hammer-ons!  This makes the game both easier and harder, but when I master it it will definitely be easier.

Mmmmmmmmm.

PS. that Slayer songs continues to kick my ass.  But My Name is Jonas is easy ^_^

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is out in Europe on 27th June.

Good timing, lads. Along with some 150,000 of what is probably your core market, I'll be camping in Somerset at the time. Expect the game to sell out on 1st July, once we've all got home, had a shave and a long sleep, and finished coming down :-)

Crap.  Now I'm torn.

This one looks okay, though I've never been a huge Aerosmith fan.  I'd have to see a full track list to know if it would be worth it.  Thing is, I just saw that GHIV will be released in late 2008.  I don't know if I should wait around for that or get
