I've been playing GHII!  I'm most of the way through Easy mode... which has been a helpful tutorial, yes.

Mr. Lover Lover

Apparently one of my favourite bars is having guitar hero II nights every thursday...

And, apparently, it was a ridiculously huge success.
It's an interesting game, although that could just be the massive projector screen speaking.
[Hax. Be jealous of the huge projector screen and surround sound goodness!]

Considering the place was packed wall-to-wall, I'm guessing there are a lot of people who enjoy it, especially when tanked. Unfortunately, this means that I'll never be able to set foot in there on a Thursday night again, what with my overwhelming homosapiensophobia and all... Wink

Yeah, I finished Easy last night.  I think I'm finally getting used to the Medium finger position, though.  For a while, I was trying to play Medium with three fingers.  I suppose it's decent practice for Hard.

Mr. Imp

I just got a copy of GH2, and in the past three days I've 5starred all of the easy mode, and I'm about 10 songs away from 5starring all of Medium.  Then I played one of the "easy" songs on Hard in free play? It owned me.  Apparently, I have a real problem with shifting to a red-blue chord.

The trick is to shift your hand down and hit the RB with your index and ring fingers. If you wanna succeed on Hard (and especially Expert), it helps to get used to shifting down at least one fret.

Any advice on getting better for hard? I 5-starred everything on Medium, and I'm finding myself choking to death on the easiest songs on hard.

I've been playing the Guitar Hero III demo for a while now.

It's pretty much the same thing, at least in the single player mode. They only let you play, something like, 5 songs in the demo.

It has come to my attention that there is an official Guitar Hero 3 community that will be hosting the eventual scoreboards, tournaments, and so forth. I've regfistered and taken the liberty of creating a Zeta Channel band, that we can more easily keep track of each other.

The site can be found here.

Also, note the latest news on the site.

Slack.

It's release day in the US (at least for the Wii version).  Who's got it?  Thoughts?

I've never really played GH before.  I mean I played a bit at Z's, but it was only ever just for a laugh while at a party.  I don't know how I'd do trying to play it "for real," but a lot of my friends seem to say it's a lot of fun and such.  I'm just wondering what you all think.  I've got some birthday money still lying around and don't know what exactly to do with it.  This is up there on my list of things I'm curious about getting, but I want to make sure it's worth it.  Thoughts?

Unsurprisingly, we have to wait another month. I knew that release date I saw a while back was too good to be true. I'll probably wait till Christmas now, since having delayed it a month it now comes out at the same time as Super Mario Galaxy, and that's really not a winnable contest :-)

It's fantastic. Srsly. The new Battle Mode is a kick, and the Co-op Career was a great idea.

Also, your secret characters will be a robot and Elvis.

I *heart* pie (sexily).

I only saw a bit of it played when I got home from my weekend out. There were a lot of little details changed that I didn't like- various fonts and counters and stuff like that. But there was also a little bit of background story and brief animated bits showing your career progressing, and that was neat.

I've had Guitar Hero III on the Xbox 360 for about a week now, and I love it.

There's not much of a difference between II and III, besides Battle Mode and Co-Op. The battle with Tom Morello, Slash, and the Devil were pretty cool. I think Tom Morello's song is best.

Here are the venue names, and songs being played at the venue.
