Really?

Im finding it bloody terrible. SO SAMEY. I suppose it wasn't bad back in the day, but I expect more from my big dumb shooters now.

Also, Im searching for ways to make it more challenging, even on the hardest mode. Ive considered not using SlowMo, or a shotgun.

Edit: Originally, it was supposed to be a much cooler squad based shooter. Some of the Delta Force extras were originally going to be other FEAR operatives who were going to spend more time with you, in particular the bomb disposal guy. There were old screenshots of him in a FEAR uniform, killing clones with you.

Also, the useless medical officier chick was originally going to be a sniper. Her costume even still has the leather pads on the elbows, which are useless now as she doesn't ever lay down with a gun. Or carry a gun.

Meh. It was interesting at first, but after a couple hours I realized that the novelty of a nice physics engine and realistic graphics wore off pretty quickly. It's a bit disappointing going into a new area and thinking, "Uh...have I been here before?"

At least Metroid is pretty. *purr* I miss the imaginative environments from the previous generation of games. Sad You can only play through so much brown and grey "realism" peppered with blood spatters and too much bloom lighting before you find yourself missing games like Psychonauts and Morrowind. Hell, even the environments in Oblivion were boring after a couple hours of play.

I *heart* pie (sexily).

I'm starting to get to the end of A2 and I don't want it to end. Sad

This happens to me, I stop playing games when I'm at that 99% because I don't want them to be over. Never mind the fact that once I stop playing them it's also over!

Ball o' string

I picked up Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver for the PS1 for $10.  I've played and beaten every one of the LoK games except this one.

I'm happy. See, I'm smiling!

I uninstalled Diablo II. I realized that I was getting WAY too focused on it when my wife made a comment about the fact that I must have been really involved in my game... Since I didn't even make a comment about the fact that she was doing yoga, naked, in the middle of the living room floor.

I uninstalled it shortly thereafter.

Playing BulletWitch.  I already beat it, but it's one of those retarded games where the "replay value" is in that, during the first run-through, you don't score enough points to unlock all of the abilities, so you have to play the same five boring ass levels over and over and over, getting ganked by unfair 1-hit-kill enemies over and over again to earn 150 unlock points...

...when every skill costs like 300 points.

I'd like to have post-coital ANYTHING right about now. *sigh*

In any case, I've been playing a lot of Assasin's Creed and GTA:San Andreas.

I didn't like the anti-climactic ending of AC. They should have at least made it seem like an actual ending rather than a commercial break. I kept wanting to go to bed and wake up to go through more levels. but it wouldn't let me. Sad

San Andreas if pretty fun. I'm enjoying the story line, since this is my first time going through it. Plus, the only real reason I decided to get it was because of the multiplayer mod. Which I haven't had a chance to try out yet.

The demo of Eschalon: Book I.

It's an ultra old-school RPG throwback that comes highly recommended from Tycho Brahe, who's essentially my idol.

Looks like it'll be fun. Hope the demo is big.

Resistance: Fall of Man (what can I say, it fell to $30).  Wow.  Fucking intense.  LOVING it.  (though I suck dead-donkey-balls online)

Siren: Blood Curse.  Downloaded the first four episodes.  Barely played for 10 minutes before the girlfriend got home and I had to turn it off.  So far it's quite good.  Another intense game, though.

Mortal Kombat II (again, off of the PSN).  Wow.  Talk about oldschool.  Even the easiest difficulty setting is fucking cheap and hard.  Yet, at the same time, it's quite cool.  I blame it on nostalgia.

Looks like it'll be fun.

And by "fun", I apparently meant "pretty boring".

Maybe Ive been spoiled by Avernum 3 as to what I should expect from a shitty, no-graphics grid-based RPGs, but if Im going to be repeatedly clicking on bloodsipper bats and "noximanders" for hours on end, then you damn well better wrap it up in an emotionally rich and involving experience.

I'm on the maze level of Brawl. This game is what happens when you get a bunch of old gamers together, hand out lots and lots of drugs, and sit them in front of a NES for an all-night retro bender.

Okami is in the post from play.com.

edit: Just played through the first two hours of Okami. The Hana Valley blooms again. And I made a point of not just finishing the main objective, but going from tree to tree and healing each one of them, individually. Zelda meets Loom meets Samwise Gamgee, in legendary Japan. I think I'm going to like this game.

Aquanox 2: Revelation.

I loved the original "Archimedean Dynasty" by Bluebyte, but while the graphics are better in Aquanox 2 (of course), some other features are lacking a bit (story, character development, immersion). Among them, most importantly, are the controls. I'm not sure that I'll get used to them sufficiently quickly to start enjoying the underwater fights before I'll break the joystick in frustration.

Mr. Lover Lover

Sacred + Underworld expansion.

I love this game. Especially considering I keep learning something new about the stuff you can do every time I make another attempt through it.

Wait, so I can insert amulets and rings and combat runes and skeleton heads into the slots in swords/armor? That is so much more awesome than those lousy three upgrades the smiths offer. I was wondering why you kept giving me so many odd items I didn't know what to do with. And not only that, but the upgrades can be un-installed and swapped out with better things when I find them? Dude, that is *excellent*. If I'd known that earlier, I wouldn't have been walking around with lousy, pathetic upgrades.

Poisoned fire swords of doom, here we come!

Also, this game is f*cking LONG. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome, but, holy crap, it's long. So many side-quests. It's like an friggin' isometric Morrowind.

Edit: I will be throughly unhappy if, come September, I can't run the se/prequel on my little notebook. [I'm already kinda irked I can't play Oblivion, or any of the Lego Starwars/Indiana jones games]

Speaking of Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones, has anybody seen the trailer for the new Lego: Batman? Awesome, I say.

Slack.

So I'm an addict for defense-type games so when I found Gemcraft I was intrigued.  It's really neat because you take gems, upgrade them and then slot them into towers to kill the creeps.  You also get to level up and get bonuses that way as well.

I highly recommend it.
