So admittedly it's a supid name... but this system looks like it could indeed be The Shit.  Found this video of them showing it off at E3.  Don't know if you've seen it or not.  If you haven't yet you may want to go grab a box of tissues.  It's that good.

So who else wants one?  I'm particularly geeked about the speaker in the controller.  That just really seals that they're not just trying to make the same thing as everyone else.  When you draw back the bow on the TV you hear it draw back in your hand?  It's little things like that which are going to make this thing better than the rest.  It's all about the gameplay.

Plus there's Red Steel.  This system isn't just for kids.

That... was... COOOOOOL!  Hot shit damn mother fucker!  Nintendo's gone bad-fucking-ass!  That was amazing!

At first I was a bit iffy on it.  I've never seen the Wii in action, so I wasn't sure what to expect (despite my excitement about it).  Then this came along... cool!  I'll admit, I'm still a bit wary about the floating fairy.  Cool, yes, but also possibly annoying and/or distracting.  The constant noise it makes could very well be a pain, too.

My main concern is the built-in speaker on the controller.  Nifty, yes.  I just dearly hope that it'll have volume control on it.

But the battle controls?  Freakin' sweet!  Seriously, if developers take full advantage of this new controller... fuck, we could see some serious fuckin' advances in gameplay, or at the least some really new and nifty shit.

I'd think they'd do a new Mario game at least.  At least one platformer (pleeeeeaaaase give us more than just one, Nitendo... please?), and more than likely another Mario Kart.  That one's a freakin' cash-cow, it is.

Man... now I'm more excited about this than ever!

I really like that it also gets people off the couch to game.  It's not just passively sitting there.  Finally moving the controller in response to what you're doing will do shit.

Mother FUCKER!  Samurai sword action!  That was fuckin' kickass cool!  And the multi-player possibilities!  Hot fucking shit!  A-fucking-mazing!

I don't know prices, but I know that Nintendo has said that this one will be the cheapest of the three.  They wanted to make it affordable.  I vaguely remember some prices being thrown around, but I don't know anything for sure.  A quick perusal of ign reveals nothing.  Nintendo's official website says nothing.  I see some people on the messageboards on ign thinking it'll be about $200-$250 in American moneys.

But... fuuuuck... soooo cool!  And the game where you can conduct symphonies?  Daaaaaaaaaamn!  I don't give a shit that it doesn't have the graphical power of the other two... the gameplay possibilities with this system are amazing.

The Nintendo WII's pricetag is supposedly, (and by supposedly, I mean, according to a company-wide e-mail from NOA) going to be $200-$250 USD.  with that price, you could buy an XBox 360 AND a WII for the same price as a PS3.

Good God...as a kid, playing NES, I couldn't sit still. I was up and moving around playing fucking Mario Bros 3. Even now, though significantly toned down, I always move in response to the games I'm playing. It's damn nice to see a real excuse for doing it without getting mocked.

OMG!  SNAKE is a playable character in the newest Super Smash Brothers game?!  Fuckin' 'ell, I'm ALL over that!  (that intro was fuckin' hilarious)

Extra note that everyone's aware of: retro gamers unite!  NES, Super-NES, Genesis (yes... Genesis), Gameboy, and N64 games will be downloadable and playable on the Wii.  (possibly Turbographix 16 games, too... but that's just conjecture on my part)  How many shades of awesome is that, eh?

Tentative release date is... umm... I don't have a specific date, but I know it'll be November, probably late November.

I want one of these very much indeed.

I'm mostly looking forward to playing Twilight Princess on it; I gather the Wii version uses the wiimote to control the sword, which will be just plain delightful. And I imagine using that thing to aim the hookshot will also be jolly good fun.

I also have pretty high hopes for FPS games. Left hand holding the nunchuck thing controls movement, right hand holding the wiimote for aim and fire. This could actually be better than mouse and keyboard...

And I also hear that Budokai Tenkaichi 2 will be coming out on the Wii. It's... unlikely that they'll do this, since they'll probably just use the normal gamepad for ease of porting to / from other machines, but I really, really hope they implement special moves as wiimote gestures. Require the player to actually _perform_ the Makankosappo or Kamehameha, with the power of the move determined by how well they do it. Then imagine what could be done in multiplayer. FUUU-SHION-HA!

(I think they should do something similar with the DS Dragonball games, by the way. The thing's got a microphone. How would it be if you could do extra damage by shouting 'Ka... me... ha... me... HA!' in time with Gokuu's actions on screen?)

Nice move by Nintendo, though. Can't compete with Sony and Microsoft on their own terms? Fine... change the rules. I have NEVER been so excited about new hardware. Ever. Not about the Athlon 64. Not about the Voodoo graphics accelerator. Not about the Playstation. Not even about the fucking SNES. New games. At last, new games.
